In the same vein as "Natural Lawson". Nothing in that store is natural --same crap as any other convenience store. But, they do the exterior in beige, and tone down the interior slightly, and suddenly they are "natural". JAL has no better environmental story than any other airline. This is just pure PR aimed at the gullable. Like most of Japan's environmental talk.

williamsmith...huh? I personally have no desire to control women. I think this is wrong because men who want to take advantage of J-girls desire to buy designer bags is sick. Let's be honest, we all glance at the girls on the trains with the hiked-up skirts. But, normal, well-adjusted men leave it at that. They don't prey on them via the animosity provided by the Internet.

No news here. Any objective person with half a brain who has followed the Bush presidency came to the same conclusions long ago. They would have also concluded that McClellen was a sacrificial lamb that Bush, Cheney, and Rove sent out daily to try to sell a bunch of half truths.

rtrhead1...Agree completely. If J-men did not have unhealthy fascination/obcession with underage girls in school uniforms, there would be no such thing as "blind date cafes". (Yet another great Japanese expression to hide a sickness, like "groping".) Sure, the gals knowingly put themselves in this position, but if there were no demand for their "company", the problem would be solved. I hope the police confiscate these girls mobile phones and make a personal contact, during business hours, with every J-guy who has their number on them. Since guilt/conscience doesn't effect these guys, maybe public shame will.

Fair_dinkum...I'm almost certain that I have said this previously in response to one of your fairly asine posts on this subject, but, allow me to repeat myself. Your lack of compassion for folks who choose to take their own life -- calling them "twits" -- is almost criminal. It speaks volumes about your depth as a human being. I will agree that society, and Japan specifically, should not glorify suicide and make these folks out to be almost heroic/honorable. But, to be unable to empathsize with someone who is so distraught as to not feel life is worth living, displays a very myopic view of life and human nature. And to brand 30,000 people like Kawata-san who take their lives every year here as twits, without knowing a thing about them shows incredible ignorance and arrogance.

Complete and utter shame. Beautiful young woman in the prime of her life. My sincerest condolences to her parents -- they must be devastated. Hope some good can come out of this in some way.

motobujohn...huh? Where is this "panic" in any of the posts? All I see is an acceptance of the fact that the U.S. two-party system, but it certainly is no-worse than the alternatives. Japan's one-party structure sure isn't working.

Good thing his hair is impressive -- because his upper body sure isn't. And, if he really respected his ride, he would not be leaning against it with all that metal on his belt and pants.

Agree with borscht, this is a great job -- on days when it is below 18 degrees and not raining. Which means his life is going to suck for the next five months or so.

He was very drunk...at 7:55 PM. But, at least the fact that it was during rush hour eliminates the knee-jerk reaction from the idiots here who would say she brought this on herself by being somewhere she should not have been/at an inappropriate time. This poor lady was accosted simply, apparently, because she was commuting home from work. And, because a J-guy was drunk and decided he had the right to molest her. Also, please explain how this situation is much different from what Hadnott, the U.S. Marine did (the girl's age aside)? Do you think this guy will get four years? More like four weeks -- suspended.

These dogs are in this same spot every weekend and holiday. Always draws a crowd of J-women squeeling "Kawaii", and taking photos with their mobiles. The dogs' owner is an older J-guy. Often wonder if this gets him many dates.

ohkami...The only one here making "idiotic comments" is yours truly. Please site ONE piece of research that supports your point-of-view -- That "wet" dolls do not take the place of a normal healthy physical relationship, and, that therefore their owners have just as likely to have children as the average J-guy does. You are right about one thing, however -- these guys are "too busy". Too busy living in a fantasy world to actually engage in real/normal relationships. And, no "normal" does not "change from person to person". Otherwise there would be no concept of societal or cultural norms. Individual behavior changes, but not whether it is normal or not. By the way, how many dolls do you own?

Could we be lucky enough to have had an "eye-reporter" there at the time? Would love to see JNN lead with the video of this tonight. Although as Fair_Dinkum suggests, they might have to enhance the video so we can clearly see the "extent" of the crime.

Fair_dinkum!...The point is that this is sort of a before and after picture. Since women here cannot advance into real professional positions, these girls will spend years in school wearing this kind of uniform, only to trade those in for the ones the older ladies are wearing. It is like a sneak peak of their future.

Any J-man who knowingly purchases a "Yong-sama lunch box" needs to receive an immediate vasectomy. A man with that low a testosterone level cannot be allowed to reproduce. Unless, he is sly enough to be buying these as presents for J-ladies that he wants to hit on. In that case, he deserves a hearty congratulations.

notimpressed...Good name -- since your posts leave me singularly unimpressed. You are incredibly narrow-minded and reliant on stereotypes, and WAY TOO defensive to make any rational contribution to this discussion.

As a foreign man, engaged to a foreign woman, whom I happened to meet in Roppongi, I am apparently not in step with any of the blatant and silly stereotypes posted so far. (I guess if I was we'd have not had 6 great years together.) And, lucky for me Everton, her butt does not even "spill over the sides" of my hands. Nor, is she pigeon towed or bowlegged. Although she is on the thin side, and occassionally wears Prada. Japanese or foreign -- hope you all find someone who makes you feel as happy and complete as I have.
