latin american countries don;t want the usa to legalize marijuana as it would cut into their profits substantially. they make much more money having it illegal & smuggling it into usa.

speaking of wills ,which aren't very common in japan, the law here is 50% to your spouse & the rest is split amongst the children. that is if you don't have a will. so, if you're not too fond of your better half, i'd suggest getting that will done asap.

biggest problem is they don't do any actual investigation. they just spirt out what everyone else is saying. how many times have you heard a headline change as more "facts" , or the correct facts come out .

although katakana doesn't bother me per say, there are some problems with it. 1 being that the japanese don't know the actual meaning of many of the words being used. they'll tell you it has no meaning in japanese only to look in the dictionary & find an exact translation of the katakana word being used. also, they could change the way they write out the katakana to make it sound more natural. like ハロ (pronounced ha-ro ) instead of the more natural ヘロ (pronounced he-ro ) very simple adjustment . although not perfect, closer . also, is japan being "occupied" by the u.s.a. or being "protected" from its evil neighbors?

the mom & pop restaurants here offer very nice & friendly service. as well as minshuku's & ryokan's (japanese inns). as many here have stated, you can't, or shouldn't , expect much from a chain shop.

in bali it was the noisy aussies. in hawaii it was the japanese. in japan it seems to be the chinese & koreans. in europe it was the americans. everyone's a bit noisy when on holiday.not to mention the group mentality when on a tour. it's your time to let loose from the daily grind . that being said, you should so some respect for the country you're visiting .

kira kira, very good point! wayyy too many drugs are dished out here & more often than not, they tell you they're not sure what the problem is, but take all these drugs anyway. also, many of the elderly take huge advantage of the system. going to hospitals just because they're lonely or a bit cold in the winter in their houses.govt. should put something in place where the elderly would have places to go in these instances overall though, a very good system & 1 reason i most likely will have to stay here. couldn't afford health care back home.

i voted i don't know. although it seems as if there is global warming going on, it's difficult to say it's a "fact". around 1 billion automobiles. motorcycles. not to mention the tons of co2 factories spew out by the minute. & the over 1 billion cows gassing away & whatever else emits co2. all this, i would imagine, has some effect on the climate .

although i feel there should be testing more often for people after a certain age, i wonder what many of the japanese elderly who live in the countryside would do. many towns, like mine, have no buses or trollies to get people around to supermarkets, banks, p.o.'s etc.... also, many of the elderly farmers commute to their fields & so on for farming .i guess they'd either drive illegally or just stay at home & starve to death.

i think the only one surprised by these scandals is the media. when discussing sumo with the japanese people, even since way back when, they have always mentioned gang connections, drugs to beef up. fixed matches & so on.
