Hansen at 12:29 AM JST - 17th November Is this really an issue? This is not even a story in the US press. actually, it is a big issue in the states. not really sure why though except the fact that americans are soooo arrogant they feel they shouldn't follow another countries protocol. we're the best in the world, so we don't have to bow. what a load of s _ _ _ ! it's the emperor. so, you bow. he didn't bow to the prime minister.

in japan, people bow to each other. plain & simple. although he bowed, he also threw in a handshake. very international. a greeting from both countries. i'm in your country so i'll bow, but i'll also throw in my countries greeting.

"if" america landed on the moon before, i find it very hard to believe that they didn't look for water then. seems as that would be the top priority .

i find this quite disturbing. america promotes & urges peace. & they take a building that was destroyed by terrorist & make a WARship. there is still nothing built at ground zero. couldn't they have used some of that steel to restructure a new building ??? not to mention also that as they promote peace they are the number 1 seller of arms worldwide. something wrong here.

an agreement should be an agreement. plain & simple. if you want to negotiate in the future that's another thing, but....... that's 1 of the bigger problems in the world today. always backing down or changing agreements. wanting out of contracts. you signed a contract. you've made an agreement. keep your word! this is not just directed at japan. it's directed at everyone everywhere.

does this question come up every time an american president visits japan ? & let's not forget all the logistics involved. how much extra it would cost . how many people in hiroshima & nagasaki would be inconvenienced with stopped traffic. road blocks. etc....

he seems to realize that he may have not deserved it himself. have to laud him for that . "Let me be clear: I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments, but rather as an affirmation of American leadership on behalf of aspirations held by people in all nations," he said at the White House. "To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who've been honored by this prize." Obama will donate the $1.4 million cash award that comes with the prize to charity.

although i like obama, & do hope he can bring about change, he obviously had no time to bring about change in the short time he's been prez . & let's not forget the u.s.a. is the #1 arms seller in the world. but, i guess they may have been desperate to give it to someone & there aren't too many candidates out there at the moment.

it's even worse than it seems : The nomination deadline is eight months before the announcement, with a strictly enforced deadline of Feb. 1. this means he was just in office 11 days . they must have judged it on all the peace he brokered between the gangs in chicago.

although i don't feel certain countries should have the "rights" to tell others what they can & can't do, they have to & should "suggest strongly" if they feel that country poses a danger to the rest of the world.
