This story seems like a lie. Police should investigate this man. I find it hard to believe there was no one else around at that time. I think he may have stolen the money.

Japan maybe a safe country but when I lived there I noticed many things that were disturbing. Older businessmen fondling young girls on trains was the most disturbing. I have never seen a country where so many policemen are brought up on charges of taking indecent photos of young women. What is going on here ? Corruption is one thing but this is something really sinister at work.

tkoind2 - People like you are always quick to talk about humane punishment. I'm not a religious person but even God's angels destroyed evil. The death penalty is fine if it prevents animals like that from killing again and in the process taxpayers and the victims family don't have to pay their hard earned money to keep that savage alive. Hell look at those kids back in 1988 who tortured, raped, mutilated and murdered Junko Furuta. they only got seven years in prison. One of the killers kidnapped and threatened another guys life back in 2004. Put those pieces of garbage where they belong, six feet underground. Every breath they take is an insult to the innocent people who have to live in this World.

Maybe if some of these guys would get out from behind their computer, shower, comb their hair, brush their teeth and go out and try to communicate with women they would have better luck. I have to say that most japanese men I have met are cowards when it comes to approaching women. Forget the cultural tabos. Some traditions are worth saving and others need to be broken in the name of progress,particularly when getting a date is the main focus :-)

I'm not sure what it will do to apologize. I'm American and we have committed our share of atrocities as well but our government is not eager to admit much. The only country that has admitted their atrocities is Germany so more credit to them.
