maybe if she ate an occasional cheeseburger, she wouldn't be skin and bones and her body could support the dress...

quite right. i once dated a girl with a similar combination of skin, bones and scientifically enhanced fun bags. looks much better on paper, i'll tell you that...

there was an interesting article about this (and similar international diplomatic disputes) in the japan times some time ago. the basic point was that japan has a tendency to be as stubborn as a mule. it believes its claim to be valid, and will not enter into discussion or compromise since it believes that even doing that is unthinkable since its claim is (as far as they are concerned) valid. the result? complete stalemate.

and they wonder why they don't have a seat on the security council

But it's still only at 3.0 megapixels????

3.0 megapixels is sufficient for a (larger than standard) 7x5" print. there's not much point having much larger unless you have a decent lens, which the iphone doesn't have, neither do most phones with oodles of megapixels but a piece of plastic to bend the light

megapixels are another myth to shift new product year in, year out. i have a 10 megapixel camera but leave it set on 4.

perhaps if dialogue wasn't so systematically stamped out in the school system, school leavers might be more able to communicate with others.

Constructive criticism is a bad bad concept here. The country is ultimately too immature to even understand the concept.

japan is too insecure about itself, its indentity, its place on the world stage and its history

japan will never listen to opinions from outside the system. no-one outside the system has any power

no-one inside the system will ever risk losing their position by challenging the status quo, nor would they have anything to gain

    ergo nothing ever changes

    amen

americans are terrified of "socialism" because of decades of propaganda and scaremongering. most americans don't seem to have the faintest idea what socialism actually means, but they know for sure that it's the boogie-man.

also, most americans are convinced that someday in the not too distant future they will be raking in massive amounts of dough (which of course is all that matters in life) so they don't want to think that they'll then have to gasp share any of it with other human beings

If students don't like being in a club, quit.

clubs usually form the centre a student's social circle. leave your club and you lose your friends

Why nobody speaks about the society`s fault? Everybody is just keeping saying: he is a bad guy but we are good. Are they? It is ridiculous to separate any crime from the society. The crime itself is a part of the society. What makes the guy to act like that? Without the right answer, the same story can happen again.

do i really need to answer this question? no, no, much easier to just say the perp was a crazy loon who was driven mad by voices inside his head/the full moon.

it saves having to ask big questions about the society we are living in, or about the people in positions of power and authority. let's just sweep it under the rug. much easier

in some ways good has come from this event. at least now the public have been forced to realise that the temporary labour market is undermining the stability of society and turning frightened and frustrated people into indiscriminant killers. surely a lot of soul searching has gone on and policy changes are in the works

Why doesnt Obama just bomb this country back to the stone age? I d definitely sleep easier at night.

kim wants nukes so he doesn't get invaded. look at what happened to sadam. the irony is if he'd actually had the wmds he was alleged to have that would have been the reason not to invade him

was there a report on their departure from narita on this site? i couldn't see one, but it was humorous to watch it on tv last week: everyone of the players wearing their obligatory face masks (off to dangerous gaikoku, of course), but then taking them off in order to speak to the reporters. bwahaa!

The conservatives will of gourse do a better job than socialist Brown and bring back morals and traditional valurs to Britain.

people hate labour for behaving too much like the conservatives. to punish them by voting in the conservatives would be rather ironic. that said, it may well happen

i've said it before, and i'll say it again: try to keep power away from women and they'll find other ways to exert control over men. better to just let them have their fair role in society, at least it stops you getting pussywhipped in covert ways like this

they are though. everyone wants the "high status" job at the biggest corporations, even though the real benefits of these jobs are a thing of the past.

Posted in: Though students may be feeling they are in an endless loop of frustration, I want them to know that there are many excellent smaller companies. Jobs at small and midsize companies should not be seen as less prestigious.

Ha ha...I love the way they have to put some Japanese celebrity in the mix, and often with the most obscure connection to the films.

indeed. so much for the japanese being interested in all things foreign. seems to be a bit like the press turn up to take pictures of the celebrity (if female, ask obligatory questions about their sex life/marriage) and the promotions company hope that the audience might happen to notice the name of the film on the posters in the background

makes me wonder whether or not it's necessary. after all, it seems to be the tactic the promotion companies always use, but perhaps if they didn't, people might still take notice?? or am i clutching at straws, here?

Not in Japan, most people avoid neighbors, and live their own separate lives.

that's not true. plenty of people have intimate relationships with their neighbours. but that's also the problem; entering into a "friendship" in japan is like signing a social contract with a lot of obligations and expectations. that's fine for a family living in the countryside, surrounded by the same neighbours for generations (the whole practice is medieval in origin...) but for those living in the city it's frankly not worth the effort and investment to establish relationships with their neighbours

sad, really. but that's what you get when you prioritise preserving traditions at all costs over allowing society mores to move with the times
