Relax peeps. I just checked it out and apparently the problem is already fixed. No need to do anything, just play.

Woohoo! Well done Canada and USA! Both teams should be really proud. Sounded like a really great game. I wish I could have seen it, but I only have the free channels...

If it's real sheepskin, then NO it definitely won't itch. It's not the same as the wool you get from yarn, etc. Very soft and comfortable.

WOW, is the first thought that entered my mind. I thought that perhaps there was a typographic error or that they used another measurement that I was unaware of.

For those of you who think that driving with a 0.45 mL/L ratio is just fine, think again.

I don't care WHICH country you are from it is WAY over the legal limit. Most countries have a legal limit of .08 mL/L but many are now going for lower limits such as 0.05 mL/L.

Even at levels as low as 0.03, studies have shown some impairment in judgement, motor reactions and so forth. I'm sure that you could also find studies that negate those findings because the BAC level will have different affects on different people depending on many factors. So, to avoid any argument, it's probably best to adapt a 'better safe than sorry' attitude.

With a BAC of 0.45 it would be amazing if this man could even walk straight. It's a no wonder that he was unable to understand the test. The accepted LD (lethal dose) for 50% of the population is 0.40%. Of course, affects will vary with individuals and people who are alcoholics will develop a higher tolerance.

As for people condemning the police, I am a bit on the fence. First, they recognized that he was obviously inebriated (which is probably the main reason why they sent him home). They did ask how he got to the station to which he said that he walked which suggests that he was aware enough that he was drunk and needed to lie. Perhaps they could have been a bit more subtle with their questioning and asked where he parked his car, which might have elicited a more truthful answer.

In any case, they did watch him exit and get into his car, but they should have arrested him the moment he got into his car and not wait until he drove away. This may suggest that they were either very gullible or really slow. I am glad that they managed to stop him, however, as I am sure that it was only blind luck that he made it there without any incident (that we know of).

Angelo at 08:49 AM JST - 3rd February "Price: approximately 2,890 yen." That's a pretty exact figure for approximation.

Yes, the probably should have said, "Suggested Manufacturer's Price"

This is a difficult one to comment on as I can easily see both sides of the story.

First, I feel nervous about leaving my backpack unattended in a car, even though I feel it's relatively safe in Japan. I can't imagine leaving a baby, even for a few moments!

However, that said, I can see that the mother probably felt that leaving the baby in the car would be much better than unbuckling all the harnesses, getting the whole bassinet out of the car while icy winds wake up the peacefully sleeping baby. Then, struggling with the crying baby, head over to the drugstore and navigating with one arm cradling her baby she then shops with another arm buying her few items, possibly dropping things left and right. How much easier it would be to just dash in and quickly get what you need in a few moments!!

AS for the man who allegedly kidnapped the baby, it doesn't take that much imagination to figure out what his motives were. It could be anything from downright nasty evil intentions to simple greed. I'm sure that there must be a market out there for selling newborn babies! I can't really imagine too many people in Japan wanting babies that aren't theirs, but I'm sure if you were to take the baby out of the country there are many many couples who would love to have a newborn baby.

As for people shouting for prison sentences...I just shake my head. Doesn't even make sense. Yes, the was careless, but as many pointed out, it's not something that people here find outlandish. Almost all the Japanese people I have met would claim that Japan is the safest country in the world. Whether this is true or not doesn't matter. The point is that people truly believe it's safe and so leaving a child in an unattended car doesn't seem dangerous.

Granted I think that people need to be aware of more than just the dangers of theft, but rather other numerous scenarios may pop up. The car was left running...it's possible that the gear could be engaged ... allowing the car to start moving on it's own. Okay, that's stretching the bounds of imagination, but how about C02 poisoning, or maybe the car just stalls and it gets too cold for the baby...or .. well, you get the gist. As many posters have pointed out, it's just neglectful to leave a baby or young child in the car alone.

This is 2010 already. We know better now. Maybe not so much 25 years ago.

    um. yeah.

Kind of hard to get excited over a ~1% increase in efficiency when the cost is most like a heck of a lot more than 1%.

I don't think that having a visible armed guard would make anything better. That's what's being discussed, right, as other readers have pointed out there are already armed guards (aka air marshals) who accompany the planes.

People urinating happens all the time, but this is the first time I've heard of an arrest. Also, the fact that it's a police sergeant seems to put it up another notch. I'm sure that news of a salary man being arrested for the same offense would elicit an even more 'so what' response.

I'm not really clear how one thing relates to the other. I mean, if you hate your job, shouldn't you be pulling a prank on someone at work, or your company? I can't see how stopping a train at random will help you feel better. Not that I'm recommending getting revenge back at your workplace though.

For advice, how about quitting and finding a better job? If more Japanese people did this, I think employers might start getting the idea to treat their employees better.

As for stopping the train, it seems a bit bizarre. Maybe he just said that to try and put some blame on his work, but just has "issues" to work out.

Of course it will sell well when it comes bundled with new computers. Not too many choices if you're buying a PC. Only techies will strip the OS of a computer to install Linux or something else (is there anything else for a PC?)

I bought one of the first PS3s with the 80Gb HD and I love it! I haven't filled up the hard drive yet, but having the extra space sounds nice. When you think about it, it's a bargain. You get a gaming machine that can play Blue Ray Discs plus, buy a cheap 1000 yen USB keyboard and you can also surf the net. Not bad for $300-$350!!

Also, they have a site where you can go online and interact with other people. You can go bowling, play pool, watch previews, etc. Of course it's all free. I also just hooked up my bluetooth headset to it! There are a few online games where you can chat with people while you're playing. I believe one of the games is called Hawk (or something) but I haven't bought it so I don't really know. I only found out about this capability recently. I can't wait to try it out.

This is priceless....calling his own infraction. But to send officers down to issue him a fine sounds like a waste of time and money. Seriously, if he is going through all the trouble to turn himself in, why couldn't he just write his own ticket?

I don't think that 'energy drinks' are the same thing as sport's drinks. Energy drinks have mainly stimulants such as caffeine and sugar. Sports drinks also have sugar, but also electrolytes (types of salt) to replenish your body when you're working out. Personally, I've never tried any energy drinks! I'm a bit leery of them since even just a regular coffee sends me a bit over to the dark side.
