Well, the freedom of speech also includes those cases. But, in those situations, the freedom of life and personal security supersedes the freedom of speech. Everyone with half a brain (at least, outside US) knows that.

Speaking as an European, I think most Americans have been manipulated during the Cold War to think for themselves when the word "socialism" comes up. Socialism is, in fact, a more fair economic system and, although it can't be applied to every government section (at least, not without rigorous controls to avoid corruption and demagogy), it should be used to warrant the basic needs of the population.

With the current statu quo more money won't solve anything, it will be redirected to corrupt politicians, tribe leaders and/or militiamen (also increasing the inflation rate). A big social reform is needed and it can only be achieved through education.
