I would avoid serious medical treatment like the plague (pun intended) in Japan. Japan enjoys long lifespan DESPITE its medical treatment. There may be one exception, however, and that is Kameda Medical in Chiba (I have no disclosures to make). http://www.kameda.com/us/

As a retired headhunter from Tokyo, I can tell you the number one issue in this case is employer's discrimination against people over 35 years old. I am certain 90% of people asking their elderly parents for financial help would LOVE to be working full time for a modest wage. It made me sick to my stomach to see the desperation in the faces and voices of many, many skilled and experienced white collar workers when they apologized to me for "being too old". Have some empathy, people, and fight age discrimination in Japan.
