Japan definitely needs harsher penalties for crimes against children as well as the acceptance of problems and counselling for mothers or family members. Until there is some sort of change, these events(infanticide) will continue to pop up in the news. Why do they condone parents who kill their children? A slap on the wrist(which this mother will probably get) will solve nothing and help no one.

I think this is a child seat/parent neglect/police issue. This has nothing to do with the so called quality of Japanese cars versus western cars. Time and time again I have seen children jumping around the car while mother or father was driving. The point here is that they are rarely "buckled in". What are parents thinking!!! Tmarie makes a good point. There may have been a child seat, but was it properly secured inside the car and was the child actually buckled in it? It simply amazes me that police will spend so much time "harrassing" or stopping people on bicycles, but they turn a blind eye when they see a child or adult in a car with no seatbelt. It turns my stomach. It has been proven around the world, that seatbelts save lives. Parents must be held accountable for securing their kids in the car. It should be noted too that more often than not, parents aren't wearing their seatbelts either. Even if your child is buckled in and you are not, you become a human missile in a high speed crash, and you can end up killing your child as you get thrown around inside the car. Wake up people! Wake up police, and do your job!!!

I think he is done. The fault lies with the Seibu Lions in Japan. Japanese teams often abuse talented players here and use them too much. This is what happened to Matsuzaka. He was such an amazing pitcher for the Lions, and they forced him to throw too many innings.

Ronny's has taken over every corner of Tokyo. It's disgusting. Hopefully another company will acquire the franchise

Good for them!!! Keep fighting. It really turns my stomach to see restaurants who obviously market to children continue to allow smoking. Yes I'm talking to you, burger joints. The biggest and most disgusting one that gives aways free toys and sells "Happy Meals", being McDonalds. I'm certainly not very happy when a smoker blows in my face while I'm trying to eat. Also, DO NOT buy Japan Tobacco's drinks and health products. That's irony for ya!!

It's all about image and marketing in Japan. There is very little 'talent' when it comes to singing and most J-Pop 'singers' haven't had any formal training. Look at Ayumi Hamasaki. She is deaf in one ear, has terrible range and can't sing on tune half the time. But.....she is marketed extensively and releases singles every other month. Of course there are exceptions when it comes to Enka and other genre.

Japanese tv variety programs are garbage. The same "talents", and I use this term very loosely. The same talents on all the same shows trying to be funny, but acting like idiots. As, well, we've got the food or cooking shows. That's the extent of Japanese tv: cooking, food, variety and news with dramas thrown in as well. Toss it all in the garbage except for a few good dramas.
