A modern definition of patriotism as we know it would be to the level of those who cheer for their country: sports teams, space programs, recovering from natural and man-made disasters. To actually "teach" patriotism seems as simple as recognizing what is good about the country. That's not scary, like say, nuclear melt-through. On a side note, it sure would be nice to see Japanese speak up for a change instead of hiding in the shadows laughing uncomfortably.

Why do I find myself cheering for Korea? I guess because of the same way I would not cheer for a three-legged horse. Although it is great to cheer for the underdog, I see firsthand how "politics" plays a role in who plays. Forget the name value and put in the best players. Look at Chono on the Giants, for example. I am promoting the idea that there should be a "Heterosexual Pride" parade. Yes, I am proud to be a heterosexual. Let's hope gays and lesbians don't take offense to that. Also, if everyone were gay and lesbian I guess human civilization would cease to exist. But hey, I guess I will come across as a homophobe. Whatever. To each his or her own.

Change your citizenship to Japanese, gain the right to vote. If paying taxes were the issue, should foreign companies staff stationed in Japan have the right, too?

I watched my son's team play a team from Australia last Thursday night. They beat them 9-0. Lots of goals, lots of skill. They practice 6 days a week (Japan Youth). But I always tell them when they lose a game 1-0, like in hockey, you can't score if you don't shoot.

In Canada last year the number of new immigrants equaled the number of babies born in the country for the first time. Get it? Man, does this country ever need to look in the mirror.

A characterless face is easily forgotten. "I don't remember those others we interviewed, but I sure remember the guy with three noses! Man, he has a nose for good deals. Let's hire him!" Every year a new face hits the ads we see in every train, magazine, etc. Gotta have character to be a character.

Hello?! Obviously this article was written by a Japanese person who seledom rubs shoulders with foreigners due to there "foreign concepts". I have taken leftovers home for 20 years here in Japan. Orchid64 hits the nail on the head about the smaller portions. There's nothing left to take home. I am always amazed when Japanese say North American portions are "too big". Truly, for anyone who has had a sandwich in Japan, the portions are usually too small. "Where's the beef?" Also, I think it comes from the custom of finishing everything on your plate in Japan, even if you don't like it.

I'm Canadian, my wife is Japanese.....my sons are....well I guess that's up to Japan to decide. Right. I am sure they will get on it right away. Whereas, Canada recognizes dual citizenship.

Too bad they used the word "pornstar" in the headline. They could have used the word "entertainer". It is like focusing on the main negative aspect of her career. Respect for the dead and less sensationalism would be nice for a change.

What would Dr. Laura say? Divorce? No. Weed? No. Psychotherapy? No, but it might help find the solution. Let her divorce herself from her duties. She hates doing them. Let her get down and dirty doing volunteer work or let her speak candidly about what it is she really wants to do, short of exploding by the look on her face (what a mess).

1 plant=personal, 180 plants=some kinda risky shit. 180,000,000 divided by 108= a shitload of money per. Truly inflated prices, or they based it on what the cops usually have to pay for it when they are off duty.

Sex education is taught in Japan. Both of my sons (Canadian/Japanese) have gone through the elementary school system and were taught at school. It should be taught at home first, though. And I don't mean by demonstrating with a pillow! Simple, age-appropriate discussion. Also, let's not forget that morals should be taught, too. Something that is laughed at these days by lazy parents all over the world. Or they could just learn it by looking at porn on the net when the parents are "busy".
