I'm too busy making money to exercise. I can do that when I retire in 12 years at 50. I find that I'm too busy to drink anymore, as well.

Japanese pickpockets! I'm thankful the police got him as now I don't have to worry quite as much about the "Chinese pickpockets" people told me about on the shinkansens. Nice going j-copos!

This is the beginning of the campaign to psychologically prepare the Japanese for the huge military budgets needed before the crash comes. If they scare enough people, they will get their money. Now cue a few million $ channeled to NK via the secret forex accounts the J-gov have and don't talk much about and we should see a new missile test in the coming months. If there is any one country in the world ripening for communist revolution, it is Japan. Think about it, can you imagine a people more passive and willing to be controlled, no WISHING to be controlled than the average Japanese?

In the past 3 years I have noticed the pendulum swinging back away from Watson's cult. It's an interesting turn of events and just shows what the internet can do. That boat of theirs which they rammed into the Japanese whaling ship was an interesting one. Not sure is it has been reported here but she used to be called EARTHRACE. She had the same stupid captain who ran out of money, and took a job with SS. She used to be silver and quite a good looking boat, before Watson decided she needed to look like the Batboat. I would have preferred to have seen her lost in the ice off Newfoundland...

Great article, Dean. Well written, too. Armchair editors need to try and run their own busineses before slapping an English lesson down on one who does. I run 3 businesses here and once out from under the umbrella of Japanese "management", I have never looked back. "Always be consulting."

kanadamanada- was that the view of upper management before the sale or after?
>
Before. I wouldn't know what he thought after. I never had any dealings with the company after they closed the shop, though I hear that manager is still attached - the same one I mentioned above.

Interesting comments about Hummingbird above. I worked for them before it went under due to mismanagement and misappropriation, got sold and repackaged and let me tell you, upper management had a very poor view of students and their motivations. I was once told by saxophone-playing upper management that "they all want to sleep with foreigners - men and women, and don't think about what is taught; only that they feel good". Only the branch managers and teachers cared.

Most of the television is done in the way of 1950s American TV. The same talents cycling on and out of poularity, crossing over into movies and music. The lack of exportability of Japanese TV is an indication of its quality. Many parts of the world are mad for Korean dramas, but comparatively few J-doramazu are popular outside these islands. The TV here is crap. Crap production value. I watched a group of 6 tarento sing karaoke for 2 hours on new years day - WTF is that??? It probably cost 20 bucks to make that. It reminds me of how they used to ad-lib stuff on Muchmusic, 20 years ago. So far ahead, yet so far behind...

NO. Besides, all the TV producers are lining up, getting ready for the big Noripi comeback tell-all! She's too marketable, good or bad, for TV to give up on her now. Watch and see.

They aint at the top of the food chain if I'm eating them! Hatoyama, as was mentioned earlier, didn't have to eat whale after the war. He was growing up on caviar and steak. >

Do your research. Whale meat is loaded with toxins because it is at the top of the food chain. So, whale meat lovers, eat your share, but you'll be paying the price healthwise.

I saw the Japanese dissection torture movie GUINEA PIG while in University. I couldn't get through it and had to turn it off after about 15 minutes. I suppose this is along the same lines. i couldn't see a point but my understanding is these are made on low budgets and when one hits, the producers can cash in. I'm sure this ban only translates to increased sales for the producers.

This is a great thing for golf. Incredibly enough, the Japanese news coverage of the tournament had over 50% of each segment dedicated to Ishikawa - Ishikawa tees off...into the water, hits into the ruff - tees off like Happy Gilmour... If anyone says that Japan doesn't know how to market its golfers, they're completely wrong, as you they take a relativley unskilled 17 year old and make the whole of Japan think he's a contender. Ai-chan, anyone?
