Truly heartbreaking. This mom will have to live with this forever. I still don't understand how parents in Japan can just let their little kids roam the streets or parks unattended---or leave them in parked cars while they shop!! From my point of view this thinking is insane. For Japanese, it is normal. Why?? Why can they not open their eyes and notice the danger that is all around??

“The October 16 case was partly because of indifference and a hands-off attitude among officers,” said a police official.
Hmmm....sounds "hands-on" to me.

I wonder what is going to happen to the baby? Will her parents raise it? Will it be handed over to the prefecture? Poor baby....I just don't understand how you could do that to your own baby, regardless of whether or not you know who his dad is....Sheeze!

Screwed up country. I am surprised this even got in news as Jpn tends to sweep these types of crimes under the rug--esp when it is committed by a Jpns perp.

It is just sad. Best not to buy any processed foods. Easier said than done, tho.
Yes, Japan needs to produce a list of the dangerous foods. I found a good link from a Hong Kong site that has a list which includes some Jpns foods/snacks that are contaminated.
Here it is: LIST From : Hong Kong Food Agency (with photos) Tiny URL: http://tiny. cc/rscqu

Don't even get me started on NHK. It is a rule NOT a law to pay NHK. We don't watch it, we don't need it and we are not gonna pay for it. My husband even told them we would block the channel IF we could. We pay for what we use and we don't use/need/watch NHK so why do they continue to bother us? Just because everybody does it doesn't mean you have to do it. Japanese need to stand up for their rights man! Just say NO folks! You don't have to pay!
Moderator: Readers please stay on topic. Whether or not you should pay NHK fees is not relevant.
