the only way to "end" the current conflict is to destroy the taliban safe haven in waziristan (northwest pakistan). since this area is "off limits" to us, the enemy will continue to launch hit and run attacks. this is similar to how the north vietnamese used cambodia and laos as staging grounds for attacks into south vietnam. fighting a limited war will leave you with limited results. until we have boots on the ground in waziristan (not just special forces or predator drones),we'll continue to have this discussion.
