The New Zealand Herald had a much more detailed report and stated that it was a group of 93 Japanese teenagers and 8 adults.

The title of this article is wrong. He was arrested for attempting to share his child porn, not for having it. I believe possession of child porn in Japan is still legal. The title should be changed.

Charge for ambulance call-outs only when the call-out was unnecessary. If the ambulance call-out was genuine, don't charge.

I recall one incident in NZ where a rock thrown at a car in NZ killed the driver, as well as many incidents involving buses. Let's hope that this kind of thing doesn't catch on here. I'd rather the media have not reported it actually. It seems once the media report something here, it becomes a fad. I sure hope not!

Bobbafett, when did you pre-order yours?

I pre-ordered one the day after pre-orders began, yet Softbank told me today they don't know when I can get it. It's pretty unfair that I (and many other people) who pre-ordered miss out, yet they give them away to people who haven't. Surely all available stock should go to those that ordered, otherwise what's the point in pre-ordering at all??

I dont think that Japan has a higher rate of neglect. I think in Japan it just gets reported more.

Sorry if I'm a bit ignorant, but I would have thought it was the drivers fault and not the conductors? The driver's the one that took off too soon right? A few more details in the story would be nice. Did the train sit at the station for the normal amount of time but without the doors opening and closing, or did the train stop for just a few seconds and then take off again before they had a chance to? I'm a bit lost.

I'm a 23 year old guy from New Zealand. I'm always sensible and careful with my drinks, although 3 months ago I'm sure I got my drink spiked in Shinjuku. I was a reck for hours outside the club, and then passed out for 2 hours at a station on my way home to find my wallet missing. Turned out I must have just dropped it somewhere because it was handed in and I got it back - with all my money and cards inside :-) If I wasn't with my friend at the club I might have got into a lot more trouble than I did.

re: northlondon..... The 'this and that' that they are demanding is simply the same rights and benefits available to heterosexual couples. They wont be getting anything more than anyone else. Heterosexual couples wont loose out at all, like you make it sound. The homosexual groups simply want the same rights for homosexuals that are granted to everyone else. Why should two guys or two woman in a loving, committed, life-long relationship, not be entitled to the same tax breaks as heterosexual couples in the same situation? Its ridiculous. Hope Obama hurries up and fixes it!

"if a spanner is a wrench, then why not have it say wrench? The one word is common usage, the other is not" Maybe for you Americans, but in New Zealand and Australia, and probably the UK as well, we use the word spanner, not wrench. If you told me to bring you a wrench i'd probably still bring you the wrench, but i'd be worried that i'd brought you the wrong thing. At least after reading this article i now know that a spanner is the same as a wrench, yay!

Since coming to Japan i've lost my camera twice, and my wallet 4 times, EVERYTIME they have been handed in and i've got them back!! I know I should look after my stuff more! The last time i managed to get the address of the person that handed in my wallet and I sent them a box of chocolates, a soft toy Kiwi, and a letter to say thanks. If i found the money, i'd hand it in for sure! No idea what kind if trouble keeping it might get you into. Yakuza, police etc. Maybe it was hidden on purpose and is being watched by someone? You take it home and get followed! No thanks! I'd call the police, or hand it in straight away for sure!

I disagree. Young people will spend what little money they have on fun and booze. I dont think the money is a factor at all. Its more likely expanding social networks online. Gay people no longer need to go to gay bars and clubs to meet other gay people, they can meet people online. Only a small minority of gay people go to such areas - for various reasons. There's FAR MORE people registered online than you'll ever find in 2 chome, so what ever you're looking for, you're more likely to find it online -be it a relationship, or something more casual. It also feels like as much as 30-40% of the people at the gay club in 2 come are white/foreigners over the age of 30. No doubt this turns away the Japanese crowd that aren't interested in foreigners. A larger club with more scope would overcome this. In a city the size of Tokyo you'd think they'd have more than one actual club. The little bars don't attract anyone but an exclusive few, and most are invisible from the street. But, the main problem for 2 chome is the internet. They'll have to think of some tricks to combat it, or at least reduce the impact. Good luck 2 chome! Would be a shame to see it disappear or shrink much more, makes for a fun night out with friends!

Cool pic! I was there last week to see them and they're amazing! When they're not in the onsen (there's hundreds of them) they run around your feet, sit really close to you, and are completely unfazed by your presence. I even got touched by one or two. Such an awesome experience! Highly recommended!
