If the aspects of Japanese history that the Emperor is talking about, aren't mentioned in the history books at school, nobody will "forget" it happened. It just never, ever happened. The amount of young people who are bewildered about why Japan isn't loved and adored by China amazes me.

I'm Catholic and also a teacher, religion has no place in public schools. If a parent feels that a religious aspect to education is so important, send them to a private school.

infrequent night busses (every hour or 90 minutes) going across town would be a great help. If you could get 80% of the way home using these, then a taxi fare wouldn't be such a bad thing for the remaining 20%
