Jake is a cool guy, very down to earth, met him several times. Aside from being a fantastic musician, he is also a runner, marathons.
He may have started in Hawaiian music long ago but his repertoire covers everything from classical to jazz to rock.
He is a professional and enjoys performing live and for his fans. You get enamored just watching and listening to him play live.
to Alladin, it is always easy to criticize someone who has become successful behind the anonymity of the internet.

Because of the convenience of Haneda -- no longer requiring several hours to travel to Narita from outside central Tokyo -- the cost will be higher. It is a business so you choose between convenience from Haneda, at the higher cost, or the inconvenience of Narita, at a slightly lower cost. Nothing is ever free, even convenience.
Other carriers such as Delta, JAL, ANA and so on will also charge more for their new services from Haneda. Still with departures all at midnight or so can be seen as an inconvenience.

This new development in tourism from China is similar to how Japanese tourists in the 1970s and 1980s flocked to overseas destinations, going on a shopping frenzy. And that included real estate.
I have lots of friends from Mainland China who come to Tokyo looking for items you cannot find in China. They have Uniglo (the biggest store in the world is in Shanghai) but they visit the one in Ginza because it has many Japan-only items you won't find in Shanghai. The Ginza store also has Chinese-speaking staff.

In the months leading up to the WC, Japan sucked but the team learned the hard way and now are showing what they are made of. Sometimes being the underdog allows to you reach deep inside and prove people wrong. And so far they are proving wrong all those people who didn't believe in them. You go, Japan!

While it may not be a thought-provoking and deep movie, it does serve its purpose for those who just want an escape from the real world in Japan and abroad. Plus, sometimes Ebert and other reviewers think too much and don't look at a movie as entertainment for entertainment's sake.

At that age, you feel you are invincible, can do anything, have the speed of a gazelle in racing ahead of the train. It is sad but a hard lesson learned for her friend and others. Still I think that this thing will continue.

I think both the parents and kid needed a good smack in the head. Too late now. Maybe they will sue the hotel for allowing the window to be opened.

The Cove was an interesting movie, quite shocking in its depiction of the slaughter. However, I felt the movie was filled with propaganda, quite bias, passing off as a documentary that is aimed at the viewers' emotions.
The movie seems to be a way by the trainer of Flipper to make up for his role (and guilty feelings) in having people fall in love with dolphins, thus creating a huge demand for "Flippers" at attractions such as Sea World, etc. performances.
Still, people should have a chance to see the movie for what it is and let them make up their own minds.
There should be no need to blur the faces of the Japanese shown in this movie, including that of Private Space and government officials.

What is more interesting aside from the 45% of Japanese who don't want foreign visitors is the 70% of Japanese inns that don't want to handle foreign visitors. This figure was based on a government survey in 2008 of all Japanese inns. So despite the demand to stay in ryokan among foreigners, owners prefer not to take part in this shift toward promoting more inbound tourism.

There could be several reasons that she didn't want to reveal she had a baby, that maybe she was pregnant while still married to her then husband and only recently got a divorce. In living conditions of staying under the same roof with her ex-husband, it is possible that they have been avoiding each other while home, not knowing what the other is doing. She could have gotten away with this crime by disposing of the baby somewhere else, maybe flushing it down the toilet like how some young teenage girls have done at the internet cafes, or thrown it in the trash bin down the street.

While they aim for the so-called 6-star service, that is all PR and gimmicking in the travel industry. Mandarin Oriental Tokyo, for example, boasts it is the first six-star hotel in the world but its services fall short of 5-star, having stayed there as a guest and as a visitor to the restaurant and bar.

a good lesson for all those sponsors for putting so much pressure on athletes, not just Asada Mao but previous ones including Kousuke Kitajima. Several years ago, they placed so much pressure on Ando Miki that she failed to perform well at the Olympics.

What is art to one person can be trash to another. By the way, Monet, Renoir and Picasso created masterpieces, and none of them are contributing to helping the planet but they do give people a time to pause and think, so I believe.

Mean as it sounds, let that be another lesson to parents who let their young children out of their sight.
Last week, I was at a park with a big pond where four children under 5 were unaccompanied by an adult as they played too closely to the edge of the water. I was scared for them should one of them fall into the water. I looked around to see if their parents were around. None to be found. What makes young parents so negligent these days? Just plain stupidity on the part of these parents' parents not teaching them about safety first.
