For many people, working in a foreign country for a while is a resume builder, not a big risk. It seems strange that this wouldn't also be the case for Japanese. I've never heard of this problem for Japanese who have worked in Germany, France, UK, or US for a few years.

I know some japanese who wanted to go to work some years in USA but decided otherwise because they feared the same as stated in the article.

I told them it would be a positive thing to have experience abroad, but that was my "foreigner's opinion. Things don't work like that here".

Every time I hear the "heeeeee", I want to destroy my TV ... Most of the time, they are in awe of a talento who can do something really basic, that annoys me so much! I usually shout at the TV "get out of your house and meet people ... you'll see that's totally normal and we don't need your 'heeeee'"

Ok, I shout at the TV, I might be the more stupid ...

yes i can picture Japanese people traveling all the way to the u.s. to buy an abercrombie & fitch t-shirt.

I heard an abercrombie & fitch store is soon to be opened in Tokyo, so they won't need to travel.

I don't really believe that ... I think she was taken for a prostitute but her agency is ashamed to admit it. Why would they go into arguing that much only to go to the restroom? To me, it's all image control. No, she doesn't gamble, no, she doesn't dress like a prostitute ...

I don't know about the US but recently, I've been to Paris, London, Stockholm and Roma and I went shopping and I could really see the difference in care! No one cared! On the towns listed above, a good point goes to Stockholm as at least, the staff said "hello" and smiled when we entered their shops ... In the other towns, that was not the case and if you needed help, it was really abvious you were annoying the salesman/saleswoman ... The worst was in Paris where after paying the items, I was told "Ok, you're done?" ... As Sarusenki said, I tried to ask for samples in cosmetic stores in Japan ... well, I was given a few of them, so I can't complain. Ok, a cosmetic store in Paris, while asked the same, gave us far more, plus presents "because we're from Japan and it's cool to have japanese customers" ...

Fortunately the guy came to confess. Who knows if the mother wouldn't have decided to continue with other men, seeing how much easy it was to make some money this way.

Should we pronounce "hide" like in "To hide" in english, or "hi-de" in japanese?

888naff ... seems you haven't read the previous posts ^_^.

I was thinking that if the countryside is that dirty, that might be a good thing to take that in picture and create a website to expose it, with the name of the place and the date. Japanese might feel ashamed or something and might decide to act against that.

If all foreigners worked together, we could even create this website in any languages!

Sorry, I could have reduced the link to https://www.irexshop.com ^_^; They sell different types of model and they look nice.

As for the model from this article, it seems it is oriented for professionals only, that's why the formats accepted are not that numerous ... http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/news_details.php?id=17746

When I was living in Paris, I thought "What a dirty place! But hey, that might be because it is a capital. What do I know, coming from my small village?" Then I arrived in Tokyo and I could see the difference! I believe those Parisiens are thinking "We have people paid to do that, it's not my job". I think those kind of actions are useless in Paris ... people who were already careful not to throw things away will agree with them, the other will just laugh or something ... Also, more garbage collector in the street would help, or at least ashtrays ...

I think we are living in Japan, so we should speak japanese. I am more fluent in english than japanese but I'm coming to it slowly.

As for the movies, to me, the american production are not very well exposed here so that's why they don't perform as well as japanese ones. Less commercials (did you notice the number of shows, documentaries interviews etc ... on "20th century boy"? Compare now to "Eagle Eye", "Iron man" etc ...) Also, when I was living in France, I could notice that 90% of the movies in theaters were american. Here in Japan, the ratio is not that high ... and a lot are not even shown. That's easy to say people prefer japanese movies if you offers more of them. If you have 9 japanese movies and 1 american movie. Well, you have more chances that people will choose a japanese one.

When I say I don't like France, most japanese are shocked I don't like this beautiful conuntry (=Paris ...). And then I ask "Have you been there?" ... "No" ... "That's why". (Even if south of France is good enough)

As a reader commented, a lot of japanese become psycholigically fragile when they live in Paris. French doctors wonder why. According to a study, that's not because french are rude (in Paris, I have to admit they are) but because in France, you have to think by yourself, noone will tell you what to do, where to go, unless you ask. And most of the japanese who became more and more depressed where the kind of people thinking the school or the company would tell them what to do, how to manage their time etc ... The study shows that mostly, it is women who have problems to adapt to the French, or even European, "way of life".

    I like this show but I think it was not very useful to learn english. It was nice for people who already speak english and want to learn vocabulary or expression (I learned "out of the blue" and I'm very grateful to that show as now I notice it is used quite a lot in movies and TV shows ...). For someone who doesn't speak english, I guess that show won't help them. Well, now it won't be aired anymore, it surely won't. Oh, and Moe is so beautiful! ^_^;

Before I came to lilve in Japan, I really loved J-POP. Now, I can't stand it. I used to think it was "refreshing", compared to the stupidities called songs in my country. Now that I'm living here and I can see how (almost) all artists has the same style, almost the same song we sometimes can't even remember the tune 10 minutes later, I cannot stand it anymore. It's like an overdose of J-POP ... To me, the worst is the 4-5 guys band ... One day, one had the idea to create such a band. It worked. Now, all the other do the same and we have all those so-called "singers". They are only cute faces without so much of a voice but we can't hear it mixed with the others ... However, I am shameful to admit I like some songs of the band named "arashi" ... (-_-)
