There are an estimated 200 million plus guns in the United States

Jesus! 200 million guns there! Surely understandable why Americans love war and why they want to put military bases all over the World. I have seen the video that whole bunch of ordinary (more than hundreds of) people have all kinds of automatic heavy guns/weapons and all get together at the rural place and shoot at the one target like hell. I thought at the time they really love shooting.

Strict gun control will be very necessary immediately but people don't like it. It will surely happens again and again and again,,,,,,,. well, unfortunately gun's country, isn't it? Dad has two guns, Mom has one, teen son has one, teen daughter has one. There is no wonder about it.

Asashoryu dug his own grave. In the first place he should not have beaten the poor man in the car when he was drunk. Asa is the first gaijin Yokozuna who was kicked out from JSA.

Despite Toyota’s problems, an ABC News poll taken at the end of January showed that 63% of Americans still rated Toyota favorably. The poll also found that 72% of respondents saw the gas-pedal problem as an isolated incident and the same percentage said it would have no effect on whether they consider buying a new Toyota.

It seems that many Americans do not worry about it or don't care about it. I wonder why they don't change to Ford, GM,..other cars if Toyota is bad quality? The poll does not seem much difference as same as before.

SS Bob Barker's ship is hoisting the Norwegian flag. He ignores the rule. Norway is now accusing SS about it.

I'm sure that this kind of defects will happen to all automakers sooner or later. It seems to be too hard to find all possible defects as quality control is too hard.

That'll eat into their profits no doubt, AND reduce the resale values of Toyotas.

I also think so. As far as I know, Most Americans seem not to worry much about faulty gas pedal because less 1-2 percent of all millions of Toyota car owners have that trouble, but media and congressmen are panicking about it. Most people are driving Toyota as same as usual because of no trouble yet or they think faulty gas pedal is minor trouble. My friend in California also does not worry about it. Maybe it is working normal.

If all factories are closed, so many Americans are out of jobs, they say the US economy gets deeply worse like Lehman shocks because millions of Americans are involved with Toyota. I'm not sure but I guess so.

All automakers have had such experience of defects in the past. After all they made better cars than ever before. However they would face another defects again and but will overcome it everytime.

but are there for other purposes. Inspection panels, sealing strips, al sorts of things. It's not like some evil American engineer purposely designed things to fall off and hit Japanese houses.

If you are right about your post, all aircrafts must be dangerous to near residents. I don't want any parts falling on my head, so all aircrafts must not fly over houses. Am I wrong?

Toyota is today using same parts for several different models but it was using different parts for each model years ago in order to prevent some kinds of parts defection or unexpected trouble of each model. To make car's price down, Toyota has to be using many parts made in other countries. Toyota seems that it can't easily inspect millions of parts strictly and vigorously.

The aircraft did not crash at the time without the part. Maybe the part is not important for the aircraft. I wonder why mechanical engineers put unnecessary thing to the aircraft?

Yes because everytime China starts the saber rattling, the US sends an Aircraft Carrier from were? That's right Yokosuka, Japan!

Therefore Japan does not need Futenma air base anywhere in Okinawa. Japan needs only some Air force bases and Navy bases, not Marine air base and no marines in Japan.

What Hatoyama said is very understandable and reasonable. The will of Okinawans should be respected. Japan does not need to decide it in a big hurry during peace time. Japan wants to have the US bases in Okinawa to prevent the potential war but the US wants to put bases in Okinawa to make new wars in the future because the US marines always go to foreign countries to fight there. It seems Okinawa is a convenient place for military like convenient store for the US.

China might be dangerous to Japan, N Korea might be dangerous to Japan, Russia might be dangerous. Look at Taiwan, It has NO US base there. China did not invade it although China had a lot of chances to invade it in the past. Japan would be no problem without one Futenma base as long as almost all bases remain same as before.

Okinawans do not want Futenma base because it is very very dangerous base, too close to residents. That's why they do not want it. Who will decide policy of US facility and base? it is surely Japan and Okinawa, not the US at all unfortunately. As I said, the time has changed.
