An EU investigation has found no evidence of the claims by Maehara, hence there is no blockage of rare earth materials, neither pure nor pre-processed.
It's safe to say that the Japanese foreign minister is becoming a real problem for the government with his constant claims that later turn out to be "on shaky ground" at best.
Furthermore one can only wish JT would not only reprint "news" from certain sources, but actually get involved in investigative journalism checking all claims before printing.

When are we leaving this medieval display of muscle play behind and start seriously talking to each other. All I see is the American driven neo-conservative mystification of illusive enemies.
In some generations people will look back and wonder what the logic of all this aggressive war talk and display of power was, like we now look back to the times before WWII.

As the state of country deteriorates the nationalism and militarism is on the rise. It seems the nation has learned nothing from its past.
Kan proclaims an increased threat in the region and immediately concludes that more military is needed, where a truly advanced state would first conclude that more diplomacy and placidity is required.
Nothing new, nothing better, can come from the current government and opposition filled with backwardly statesmen with a blatant lack of wisdom, vision and leadership.
Japan had the chance to become the eastern Swiss, a prosperous international and open minded hub that attracts people and money from the world, but the Japanese character never changed and the chance came and went away.

Where no one takes leadership nothing will improve. No one takes leadership as no one wants to be blamed. Hence nothing improves and the system slowly falls apart.
A recent study found that it would be easy to install bicycle lanes on a number of roads to battle the dramatic rise in accidents with pedestrians.
The implementation is prevented as the ordinance falls under local jurisdiction and the local governments are afraid that one will blame them if any accident between a car and bicycle happens.

Is Minister Mabuchi's idea of a unified operation that he must cripple the international flights from Haneda by restricting them to night time only, making it factually un-usable for any European airline.
