When I say some 20 something year old, driving around in his car with a manga figure, I just had to laugh!!

I have a 40 year old Japanese friend (father of two kids) who does the same. He even gets all exited to see new manga figures in the convenience store and "must" buy them.

Do these idiots every study science?

The meeting is not about protection of ecosystems but to protect cheap access to fish stocks, clean water and other resources we over consume.

Why did JCG captured the Chinese fishing boat?

It was a direct order by Maehara.

Japan also asked China to unblock the export of rare earths and reopen talks on the joint development of gas fields in the East China Sea, Maehara said,

An EU investigation has found no evidence of the claims by Maehara, hence there is no blockage of rare earth materials, neither pure nor pre-processed.

It's safe to say that the Japanese foreign minister is becoming a real problem for the government with his constant claims that later turn out to be "on shaky ground" at best.

Furthermore one can only wish JT would not only reprint "news" from certain sources, but actually get involved in investigative journalism checking all claims before printing.

When are we leaving this medieval display of muscle play behind and start seriously talking to each other. All I see is the American driven neo-conservative mystification of illusive enemies.

In some generations people will look back and wonder what the logic of all this aggressive war talk and display of power was, like we now look back to the times before WWII.

    We’re not Japan.

Japan, it seems, has become the negative role model for the whole world.

a drum washing machine that features superior cleaning power to other drum-style machines

That's a bold statement; any proof?

That wouldn't have been possible 10 years ago. Japan is in a desperate situation, but hope dies last.

You can get most places very very quickly.

As long as you take public transportation; using a car in a rush hour proves to be slower than a fit person on a bicycle.

As the state of country deteriorates the nationalism and militarism is on the rise. It seems the nation has learned nothing from its past.

Kan proclaims an increased threat in the region and immediately concludes that more military is needed, where a truly advanced state would first conclude that more diplomacy and placidity is required.

Nothing new, nothing better, can come from the current government and opposition filled with backwardly statesmen with a blatant lack of wisdom, vision and leadership.

Japan had the chance to become the eastern Swiss, a prosperous international and open minded hub that attracts people and money from the world, but the Japanese character never changed and the chance came and went away.

Where no one takes leadership nothing will improve. No one takes leadership as no one wants to be blamed. Hence nothing improves and the system slowly falls apart.

A recent study found that it would be easy to install bicycle lanes on a number of roads to battle the dramatic rise in accidents with pedestrians.

The implementation is prevented as the ordinance falls under local jurisdiction and the local governments are afraid that one will blame them if any accident between a car and bicycle happens.

It's important to operate Narita and Haneda in a unified way to promote the two airports as one international hub.

Is Minister Mabuchi's idea of a unified operation that he must cripple the international flights from Haneda by restricting them to night time only, making it factually un-usable for any European airline.

Some drivers or their mechanics have put in the wrong type of brake fluid, causing some of the seals to curl up and allowing a small amount of brake fluid to leak, Toyota said

Is there any driver out there who changes brake fluid on a modern car by herself? If you can afford a proper mechanics, you shouldn't drive a new car.

The reason why other large cities are able to offer more authentic ethnic restaurants is because there's usually a large enough population of that ethnicity to support it

Anyone recognized that English speakers never call French cuisine "ethnic food"? Only food from non-white countries are labelled as outside the norm.

Possibilities include provisions in the Australia plan that enable customers to get warnings from their Internet providers if their computer gets taken over by hackers through a botnet.

Why get a warning instead of a preventive measure? If the service provider can detect malware they should be able to do so before it infects a customers machine.

PS: Computers are not taken over by a botnet, infected computers form a botnet.
