    @Zenny

    A quote from Wikipedia, defining the "Big One" in Japan:

    "A megathrust earthquake expected to happen in Tokyo, Kanto area, Japan with the epicenter in Sagami Bay where the Filipino Plate and North American Plate movements cause big earthquakes regularly, with an interval of approximately 70 years."

    As to where to move them, I reckon "Anywhere where big quakes are less likely to strike" would be a good start.

    I wonder if any of this will serve as a wake-up call regarding the movement of at least some of the trappings of government, industry and finance out of Tokyo before the Big One strikes. Because if this had been Tokyo, and not Tohoku I find it hard to see how we'd find a way back from it.

    Muslims don't eat pork for the same reason they don't drink alcohol: they are originally a desert people, and living in the desert seriously compromises the health of internal organs, especially the liver. And pork and alcohol are decidedly toxic to the liver. It's basic common sense dressed up in religion.

    It's Europe. Is anyone relly surprised.

    Of course it's Europe. If it had been America she wouldn't have been under-age. Hell, if it had been Arkansas or Alabama she'd be married (twice) with six kids....

    A 70 year old with a teen. Yuck

    Ah, but you won't be saying that when you're seventy... :)

    How about the death penalty, even though I don't believe in it?

    I believe you've just answered your own question.

    this little angel got lucky that his murderers are going to jail

    Yeah. Really lucky. Except that he's dead. And four-year old boys are absolutely not angels. Ask anyone who's raised one.

    A bit less vengeance-flavoured sentimentality might be a good thing.

    we've all been here long enough to know this is what the J-Media do

    We've all been on this planet long enough to know that this is what the media do, full stop. No need to kick Japan.

    Here in J-Land if they find any amount, even if it is NOT enough to even get high on, you are busted.

    Not necessarily. A friend of mine got caught at Fukuoka airport with a few grams of dope (not meth, but still...) in his jacket pocket after a trip back home. The customs guy stared him in the face, told him to be "very careful" and sent him on his way.

    @sailwind

    if I get sick you're going to fork over hard earned money to pay for my medical bills?

    It's called the National Health Service in England. And, though not without the odd problem here and there, it works pretty damn well. Still, if it were you, Sailwind, I wouldn't hesitate to hand over a few coins to ensure your complete recovery :)

    @Sailwind You obviously don't like government. There are a lot of folk like you out there, especially in the States. I suggest you all club together and buy a island where you can set up a society free of civil servants and the "public trough". When crimes are committed you can solve them yourselves, when people get sick you can treat them yourselves and when you get invaded you can defend yourselves. It'll be great! A combination of Lord of the Rings and The Road. Good luck.

    Civil servants (at least in my country) link their pay claims to inflation. Profit, obviously, doesn't enter into it. When a country's economy is prospering, why the heck shouldn't people who work for that country benefit?

    No. A ridiculous point. Would you suggest that people who work for Toshiba are "servants" of Toshiba, and should therefore not be allowed to demand better pay/conditions from the company they "serve"?

    Osaka people do not go there

    So the folks who live there, in Osaka, aren't "people"?

    I think it is more stupid for people when they become Japanese citizens, having to take a Japanese name.

    Not this one again!

    goddog, listen carefully: NOBODY has to take a Japanese name why they naturalise. Nobody.

    Have Muslims make their own movies!

    What are you saying? You honestly believe there's no film industry in Iran or Turkey or Egypt? Just three Muslim countries famous for their movie output.

    Nobody will put this man in jail.

    I hope not. It's stupid, offensive behaviour, but hardly worth prison.
