This Senate vote is going to ricochet on the pro-homosexual crowd....

By "pro-homosexual", you mean unprejudiced and sane, right?

I predict an "Autonomous Chinese Region of Northern Korea" within five years, ruled from Beijing. Which should certainly give the South, the Japanese and the Yanks something to think about.

I bet the book is a fail as it will expect you to memorize and regurgitate. That is a fail way to learn a language

Nonsense. Look at the enormous success of the Pimsleur system. It's not memorising that's the problem, it's what's being memorised. PS "fail" is a verb, not a noun and not an adjective.

If she gave the slightest toss about people living in poverty, she wouldn't be the nasty right-wing republican that she is. All for show.

The look on a child's face on Christmas morning when he finds Santa has been - sheer magic. Any parent who wouldn't want to see that must have a heart of wintery ice.

At 4.30 in the morning, Cleo, my heart's a whole lot chillier than that!

They could have rid the UK of some its worst elements.

I don't know. They're pretty damn annoying, I'll grant you. But actually taking out Charlie and Camilla seems a bit harsh.

I prefer sumo in olympics instead of this pervert entertainment.

It is very natural that Japanese should land on the islands or walk around there for hours

Do you really, really believe that its natural to land on a remote island and wander around it for hours? How often do you do it?

    No arrest.

It's not illegal to use a mobile phone in a priority seat, just against JR rules. The police don't have any power to do anything. Assault, however, is a different matter....

They need a tea party movement in that country.

We've got one. It's called the British National Party and they are truly a bunch of racist no-hopers.

I'd love to hear her debate quantum physics with Stephan Hawking.

But in the interest of fairness, I'd love to see him ballet dance with her.

This "underage" bit is ridiculous. You can't expect university students not to drink. High school students, fair enough. But once people leave home they're obviously going to go to bars and izakayas.Everyone knows it happens. Sad for the girl's parents :(

I speak as a person who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ

You speak as a person who said in a recent post:

"I think as punbishment (sic) this brat should have hot water poured over him, and see what HIS reaction is."

I would suggest you have a pretty odd relationship with Christ, given that comment.

Not sure how fast the author of this article turns pages but a Kindle turns just about as fast as a normal book. And the last time I checked, regular books are in grey scale as well

Exactly. I couldn't believe the "pages are slow to turn" comment. They turn as fast as any book I've ever read.

I would rather sweat than freeze.

Really? Hell, not me. They're both unpleasant, physically, but mentally the heat kills me. I lose the will to live in August. Looking forward to the next three months, weather-wise. :)

Maybe you would like to tell us what you think Iran or China does to your hero Assange if he ever transits through Shanghai, or say, Hezbollah-controlled Beirut?

When you're reduced to making comparisons with the regimes in Iran or China in order to make your own country look good, you should realise you're not going to win any arguments.

I am all for the "Ganbare Nippon" movement and all, but I would like to see a wider range of people involved. People in their 20s would be nice.

Yes. They could dress up in brown shirts and march through Chinatown in Yokohama. No, john, there's nothing to admire about these volk.

I'd pay double to be anaesthetised and packed in a crate, not being woken up till I arrived home. Mr T had the right idea.

The only man that is attractive is the real man. Real man do not care about nails and mascara

I wish my wife would understand that. Man, she expects me to clean my teeth every day.
