Japan has as rich and interseting a culture of myths and legends as anywhere else. Koizumi Yakumo's 'Kwaidan' or the 1964 Kobayashi film are incredible. the story "mimi nashi Hoichi" gives some background on the Heike crab story based around Shimonoseki. As for UFOs,the supernatural. ghosts etc.. I dont believe any of this stuff, but am still fascinated by the local versions. good article, thanks
