China supports North Korea and keeps it propping up. China should be sending the food.

Darvish at least has one thing going for him: the first year usually goes to the pitcher. The batters would not be familiar with his stuff - they've not seen it enough before. That's why there's a lot of good-enough pitchers get good first years.

But what makes MLB the most major of major leagues is adjustment. MLB sluggers eventually adjust; show your stuff enough to MLB hitters, they learn faster than lesser talents (otherwise, they wouldn't had made it to the MLB.) There are stats, videos of every scenario, tendencies, scouting reports, etc. of everything and everybody that builds up over time.

So pitchers have to adjust and learn too, or they'd soon be out of MLB. Only the really good pitchers could have multiple good years.

And as Dotobock pointed out, there are other factors outside the diamond that new players have to adjust as well.

    From wikipedia:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TimePersonoftheYear

Person of the Year (formerly Man of the Year) is an annual issue of the United States news magazine Time that features and profiles a person, couple, group, idea, place, or machine that "for better or for worse, ... has done the most to influence the events of the year."

It is not a designation of honor nor condemnation. It is just about who/what/how made the most significant news of the year. Time magazine points out those such as Adolf Hitler in 1938, and Joseph Stalin in 1939 and again in 1942, and the Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979, have also been granted the title.

Good or bad doesn't matter into this. The protestors in the Middle East, in Wall Street, etc. Who's more courageous, who's right, who's wrong......... Does. Not. Matter.

They made the most news - that's all that matters.

I like to read while taking a soak, paper-backs are great for that. Wait till someone falls asleep in the tub and his fancy e-reader/ipad slips into the water = pricey and lengthy to replace and restore all the data.

There are water-proof cases for devices (basically just a sealed plastic bag) that allows you to still use the device, even underwater. As for downloaded data, anything you buy online, you should be able to re-download at no extra cost, in case your device breaks, stolen, get lost, etc.

One big issue with downloaded data was that one time Amazon was selling an e-book, people bought it, then later Amazon had issues with the e-book and not only took it off the store but deleted it from people's e-readers with refunds - but without telling the customers first or giving them the option to keep it since they already bought it. That issue caused a big fiasco.

K-pop and J-pop girls are actually about the same age ranges. The difference is in how they portray themselves. K-pop like to portray themselves as young up-coming women. J-pop like to portray themselves as underage girls.

There should be a policy that a Japanese PM should be on the job 6 months before he sheds the unofficial title "interim" and have his name on the office door and can visit U.S. summits and for other nation leaders to bother remembering his name, like with seasonal workers.
