kwatt, I am with Cleo on this one. My wife recently had a baby and so did a lot of friends and none of us have gone to the hospital without signs of the birth starting. On a practical point, who would know when to go? The birth happens when…

The 747 has the LOWEST operating cost per seat of any jetliner, Smitty - look it up!

Sarge - you may find the A380 now holds that honour. I can see Obama going for 787 dreamliner in the future, if they ever get it off the ground.

Specifically, I have said that people who make the effort to perform as requested deserve bonuses for the degree to which they meet those performance standards.

On further review even though I agree with the concept I don't quite agree with the wording used. Making an effort is expected as…

Admission? It's not a crime, nor is it something to hide.

I never said it was. From the dictionary, as well as admitting a crime etc, it can also mean: 6. an acknowledgment of the truth of something. 7. a point or statement admitted; concession. You have acknowledged yourself that…

You seem to be suggesting that I'm blinded by my connections to the financial industry and not in a position to judge. That might be a valid point if you had any basis for that suggestion, but you do not.

    20 years ago I made $120,000 a year as a…

Why keep people you don't need? >

The bigger question is why pay them retention bonuses?

As for saving companies, can you name even one company where the executive bonuses could have saved the company or the jobs of a significant number of workers? I think when you actually do the math you'll find that foregoing executive bonuses would not provide any meaningful help.

    I believe…

I like those who are saying the decision to limit the salaries is wrong as the executive salary should be determined by the shareholders. My understanding is that the government is getting at least preferred shares for their investments. So in effect the shareholders are speaking.

    Sezwho2 you made the…

Fuel surcharges are a great lurk for the airlines. At about half the price of the overall cost to travel it means that people using miles still have to pay half the cost (instead of getting it free like in the past) and as the airlines only pay travel agents…
