could never understand the 6-slice per bag of bread rule and why everything in a bakery is "furansu-pan"
Completely agree with Cheese being on that list.. could never find anything reasonbly priced at my local tenmaya or itoyokado.
Fruit.. yes. I don't care how great of quality one 700yen apple is, that is absolutely insane to pay that much. Could buy a lunch box at the 7-11 for that price and be more satisfied. I also found that the selection of fruits at my local supermarkets were.. lacking. Basically had Apples, Bananas, Oranges, grapes, and the occasional melon wrapped with a bow for 5000yen. Ridiculous

what a joke.. I don't think her career can be any more hurt by starring in Hoodrats 2: Hoodrat Warriors...
that being said, she doesn't look half bad at all!

Or you could, you know, politely ask them to tilt their seat a little bit forward....
Then I am wondering why Cletus didn't do this instead of standing at the back of the airplane.. Flight Attendents with no power to get passengers to move their chairs? Come on..

flying is all about being selfish these days.. if the person in front of you puts the seat back right in your face, make a point to smash into it every time you go to the bathroom. Its not like you have a lot of room to move about anyways and why not make the other person as uncomfortable as they are making you. Everyone needs a little air rage.
from a previous poster, I find it astounding that the FA would allow Cletus to stand at the back of the airplane for 5 and half hours.. even if said passenger says no to raising the seat, the FA have the final say in what goes on in an airplane. For safety concerns everyone should be in their seat at all times and it seams like a serious breach of procedures. I hope at least you made a complaint to the airlines (not like that would do anything but for moral reasons nonetheless)

The whole "us and them" mentality of this place is enough for me to never want to live there again.. the archaic Family Registry system, no recognition of dual citizenship for my kids, a social welfare system on the verge of collapse (unless they get their 20~30 million immigrants!!) an economy thats been stagnating for the past 20 years.. Even if you are a well educated foreigner, you still get the shaft.. Look at Woodward at Olympus, he worked from the bottom up to the CEO position and they had the gall to say the reason they canned him was that his "Management style did not jive with Japanese values" what a load of crap. Why on earth any educated foreigner would want to come to this place is beyond me

Its a publicity stunt.. but it certainly doesn't do anything to stymie the bluefin catch. How many fishermen next year will be trying to get the largest catch so they can sell it for 60 million yen? It's a never ending circle

the problem is that the companies themselves are conducting the road tests in the most pristine conditions i.e straight, flat roads, no stop-go traffic, dry roads, etc.. the type of driving that happens probably less than 1% of the time. Or as stated before, only report the results from this particular type of test. While technically correct, the MPG they present will more than likely not be attainable in everyday driving
That being said, modern cars have the means to give you an avg km/liter (mpg) used on the info panel. So if you are thinking of buying a vehicle, take that car out for a test drive for like an hour and try to drive it how you anticipate you would, majority highway driving, city driving, etc.. this will undoubtedly give you a better indication of your fuel use. And as the car ages and the KM's start adding up, its efficiency will start to drop.

I always find it amusing (and distressing!) when the Japanese courts throw out any decision by a foreign court regarding the issue of custody. It happens almost every time when something like this goes on..

When KFC chicken becomes part of the christmas meal in North America, then the world has gone all to hell.. as stupid as it sounds about KFC chicken.. its probably the closest thing to bird that people can get over there in large quantities. Like, how often has anyone here seen a frozen turkey in a japanese supermarket? I saw one once, but it was in an Import Store
