the problem is that the companies themselves are conducting the road tests in the most pristine conditions i.e straight, flat roads, no stop-go traffic, dry roads, etc.. the type of driving that happens probably less than 1% of the time. Or as stated before, only report the results from this particular type of test. While technically correct, the MPG they present will more than likely not be attainable in everyday driving
That being said, modern cars have the means to give you an avg km/liter (mpg) used on the info panel. So if you are thinking of buying a vehicle, take that car out for a test drive for like an hour and try to drive it how you anticipate you would, majority highway driving, city driving, etc.. this will undoubtedly give you a better indication of your fuel use. And as the car ages and the KM's start adding up, its efficiency will start to drop.

I always find it amusing (and distressing!) when the Japanese courts throw out any decision by a foreign court regarding the issue of custody. It happens almost every time when something like this goes on..

When KFC chicken becomes part of the christmas meal in North America, then the world has gone all to hell.. as stupid as it sounds about KFC chicken.. its probably the closest thing to bird that people can get over there in large quantities. Like, how often has anyone here seen a frozen turkey in a japanese supermarket? I saw one once, but it was in an Import Store

I hear the Toronto Blue Jays are interested in him as well. Would be nice to see the young star not go to the Yankees or Boston.. hope they can pull it off.

whats the catch here? 25k a year because classes are taught in english? Here's a thought, don't live in Japan with your non-japanese speaking family and avoid paying these ridiculous fees. It's clear that pretty much only the wealthy can attend these international schools in Japan and who really knows if the quality of education is better there than in public schools.

Aren't a lot of Toyotas and Hondas already built in the U.S? What exactly are the exporting to the states?
Posted in: Last year, Japan exported 1.5 million vehicles to the United States, while U.S. automakers exported just 8,000. Why aren't U.S. makers selling more in Japan?

KPMG and Ernst & Young ShinNihon were the auditors for Olympus.. (KPMG prior to 2009) so either they were negligent in their duties when auditing the books or they knew about the hidden losses but didn't report them.. knowing how the corporate world works nowadays, they'll probably just get slapped with a fine and told to not do it again.

What about the Ford Focus or Fiesta? I could see cars like these making an impact in Japan.. smaller size, good fuel efficiency, fairly reliable. The Japanese mindset isn't in the big 4 door sedans that North Americans love so the auto makers would need to cater to that aspect. Doubt that the Taurus would sell very many vehicles in Japan
Cars like the Mustang, Corvette, etc.. are for a niche market in Japan anyways.
I'm surprised that Hyundai hasn't been able to get into Japan. The Sonata is a highly rated automobile and pratically outsells Toyota in the states
Anyways, the US automakers should concentrate on China since their economy isn't stagnating like Japan's has.
