That's take it easy on the JET(I think that's what it's was called). Maybe over 90% of JET are not qualified to teach in there own country. That's why they are "assistant" teachers in schools in Japan. I weight a large portion of the problem with the Japanese English teachers and the Monbusho. Japanese Egnlish teachers are trained teachers that should fully support the JET and not complain most of the time. I believe JET program was established by the Monbusho to help Japanese teachers and students to get a taste of "native" english.
I could imagine it would cost a whole lot more of money to bring in qualified/experience native english teachers to Japan. If they every do decide to do that, I have a feeling Japanese teachers would feel inferior and complain that they might lose there job.

I read somewhere that over 70percent of reported bullying happens in junior high school. Maybe it's because kids reached puberty and they start to have to look after themselves=most fragile period. Someone should really look into why over 70% bullying occur in junior high and really do something about it

There is nothin wrong dating OLDER man/women...
But, as long as my daugther is living under my house, eating my food or using my money(like paying for cell phone bill). She needs to follow rules set out by the family. That includes "NO dating 18 & older".
If she has a problem with that. I would take away her cell phone previledges.... man...I hope it s that simple...

If the man had raped kumamoto's daughter and kumamoto killed that man. I will be very lenient of kumamoto if I was a juror. As a father, I would praise the kuma, since I would want to do the same, but probably dont have the courage.
In this situation, kuma just got out of hand. What if his daughter and the 38old man were in love? Or if that umemployed man hit the summer jumbo lottery and didnt have to work... Or because the daughter hated his father because he has been abusing her, physically or even sexually and the daughter wanted to get out of the house(not a mention about the mother in this article)... The pt im getting at is we don't know anything from this article. It's just wrong to assume the 38old man was a sleeze ball and kuma should get off easy just by reading this simple article.

with the easy availability of teenage girl owning a cell phone and the advancement of internet tech, like dating sites, it has become a huge problem in japan. parents should be able to unsubscribe the internet access...actually the cell companies should be able to turn of internet access if parents want it.

The problem with teachers and staff in Japan is that they all probably were the instigator or the receiving end of bullying when they were students. I heard from my colleagues that when they were students, bullying was part of school. ANd they said it was a lot more tougher back than(30yrs ago). The teachers didn't care at all nor the parents, he said everyon(PTA) indirectly accepted it as part of school education.
I asked him how he dealt with it. And he told me it was simple, the bigger students bullied him, and when he got bigger, he bullied the smaller kids.

This is a very serious problem in junior high school in Japan. Bullying accurs usually by 2 or more people. I believe it s because of peer pressure...you won't do it alone, but if you have a group who thinks it s ok, they end up doing it together, because they think it s alright since others are doing it. And usually it escalate from there.
When I was a kid, I was bullied. I wanted to get a bat and beat the crap out of him, but I didn't because I fear the consequences. Some of those bullies became very good friends of mine later on in my life and became very successful in life.
Some of you might not agree, but I think educating is the best way. Schools in Japan, should start a mandatory curriculum class to prevent bullying and get the parents involved. I really think most of the bullies just don't fully understand the stituation and gets got up in peer pressure.

I remember there was a guy name " Giant" in Japan. He competed in all kinds of eating contest in Japan. Beat Kobayashi easily and all other competitors in Japan a while back. I never seen him lose a match. I hope the "Giant" could go to US and prove he s the champ.
