Correct me if I am wrong. But it was the president and a minority of the american people who wanted to enter in the war. The majority of the americans wanted neutrality and actually they made good money selling to both sides. What you imply, is that because the americans dont wanted to lift a finger for save asians or europeans, the president decided that ''the end justify the means'' and manipulated the events until Japan attacked and killied many americans and used that for stir the desire of revenge in the americans. Is these what you mean?

Correct me if I am wrong, but the USA dont entered in the second World War, because they thinked that Hitler was so terrible that must to be stoped at any cost. That is a fantasy of people with poor memory. The USA entered in war after the Japanese Empire attacked Pearl harbor, it was self-defense and desire of revenge, that hardly can be called idealist reasons, like worrie for the Asians or the Europeans. In fact is undeniable that the USA selled things to both sides until that moment.

I agree that is nice if they want to do it, but it sound to me like they work because they have no family. They lack children and grand children, under normal conditions they take these free time for enjoy their family and spoil the little ones. I guess that that is what means chose work, before family.

We cant let experts decide who is inocent and who is a criminal, with out any control of the common people. Is based on democracy ideas of active civiv involvement.

I just heard that a big company here in Aichi is going to cut all the foreigners temporary workers, they work only until december 31. That means that Toyota supliers are shrinking the workforce to the bare minimun. Keep just the echelon that they cant throw out the window. Time for pack and move out for the people that still can do it. These is going to be a hellish winter.

Ok, aside of our personal opinions on the past, lets remember some facts:
1 - J culture avoid public debate of toxic topics. Open and loud disent is not easely accepted. Is a group consense decision system.
2 - That SOME (big remarks on some) people that demand freedom of opinion for Tamogami is the same people that want to denay teachers silent protest in schools.
3 - Some people that say that others points of view must to be taked in acount when is about ultraconservaative views, are also know for try to minimize or eliminate talk about war crimes or responabilities in school history text books.
4 - Tamogami as an ex-important member of the J's SDF generated controversial diplomatic problems for J and teachers generate controversial problems in J.
If we are really going to talk about freedom of spech I think that we also must to talk about making lists of teachers that dont stand and sing the anthem. Because both things are the same, about personal disent with the administration views. Be a conservative or be a liberal. I think that some of we need to start to face our own double standars, talking about freedom of spech only when support our views and remain silent when is about the oposite views. What do you think?

Yes to both, I believe that the person selling the sake, and the passenger, hold some responsability. Maybe we dont like it, maybe we think that is bothersome, maybe we think that is to much for so small thing, but if someone die, is going to be to late for say I am sorry that I dont stooped him.

I think that is Juninchiro how reformed the banks in J and the Chinese new market what ended the recession in J. Until that happened, LDP measures only keeped J in intensive care, not alive, not dead. I dont think that I dont heard that he have a proposal for reform the banks or an idea for make contries trade more in place of less. I dont know... something like a new international currrency holded by the IMF for avoid speculation in international trade. Offer more money is lead only in contribution.

Posted in: Young people just don't think that joining the SDF is one of the options for their future career, unlike becoming police officers or firefighters. We need to soften the image of the SDF as being rigid, severe and dangerous.

I think that we discused these many times before and one of the most interesting answers that we got is that J think that tourism is for poor countries. There is no real interest in atract mases of tourists here. Only the gov want it and is because they know that the current economic system cant keep growing, in fact it started to shrink by hollowing out most of the production to china. People dont like changes, even if is for their own survival. Is not like we are happy with the idea of be a tourist spot for the chinese, but that is exactly what we need for get back part of the money the chinese take from taking J jobs. Is reality, adapt and survive or face high levels of unemployment. Until people face it, these is all just lip service with out any real interest.

Is very simple, anyone that really try to fix the US economy is good for J. People more interested in ask for more money and soldiers for wars is bad for J. In the rest is indiferent for japanese because for us democrats and republicans looks like LDP and DPJ, we really dont know what is the difference bettwen one and another :D

I think that another problem is the cost of travel inside J. It strike to me, that it cost to me more go from Nagoya to Kagoshima for visit my family than travel to Seul for a weekend vacation.
