Interesting. You can almost tell from the comments who's been here for more than five years…

An act of children. The rightists of Japan, another group of children, are green with envy…

The same reason why they wait until their victim is asleep in bed. A 66 year old man with no courage to face his wife before putting her out of her misery.
Unfortunately, this story may have a folowup in the next few months stating "66 year old man commits suicide leaves a note saying he is lonely without his depressed wife he stabbed earlier this year"

Or maybe he wanted to make a good impression with the officer in the passenger seat? Was it a male or female J-cop as the passenger? Hmm the mystery continues...

Ok, Ok, let me recap the story as a normal person understands it. First - SAITAMA — next a 29 year old man and a 16 year old handicap girl (name withheld to protect the minor).
The man purse snatches from an elderly woman roaming around Tokorozawa after midnight with 10,000 yen in her purse. The odd couple criminals drive around about four hours until they get into a hit and run accident in Kawagoe. A eye witness calls the incident in and the J-cops call in reinforcements to manage the crime scene.
Helecopter support has a clear view of the 200 meter area in the rice fields. One hundred J-cops in hot pursuit of two alleged criminals.
Perpertrators caught and arrested the two as suspected theives.
I am surprised they did not bring the dogs out to help catch the suspected theives.

Well. the good side of this story was integrety of the J-cop to call the police on himself. The bad side is the stupidity of the officer not knowing his own traffic regulations. (and his partner also).
If you beleive "There was a sign at the intersection indicating the time regulation for vehicles, but both the officer driving and the officer in the passenger seat failed to notice it." then it is time to apply for a J-cop job. Anyone can qualify for the position, even 40 year old dependents.

Marry a Japanese local, keep employed with US govt or contractors and skip the payments to the health insurance all together. Life is good.

If you can remember the story of the boy that cried wolf to many times, this lady will have a real crisis/emergency and dial 119 after she is released from jail. The emergency units will respond, but not with any urgency because of the crank calls she made before. Too bad she doesn't live in Saitama, this story would not be strange at all.

Wanderlust, point taken on the impact of the guardrail in relation to the position of the children. Living here in Japan and observing Japanese drivers, children normally are allowed to wander about in the vehicle and usually they take position in the center of the car both in the back seat and front seat to get a better view of the road. One of the children may have been spared if this was the issue. Either way, two items are very evident in this accident: Driver distraction and vehicle speed.
From the pictures, it looks like she drove onto the high shoulder of the road, losing the ability to re-enter the road. Then striking the end cap of the guard rail. Defensive driving and situational awareness could of prevented this accident.

RIP to the little boy and girl. The greiving process will take time to heal the emotional scars. You have to wonder in this accident if the use of seat belts may have effected the outcome of the children living or dying.

Do you think he was an ignored employee of the president, thus prompting a stabbing spree?

I am not sure, but it sounds like the man fabricated this story so he wouldn't get into trouble with his wife after losing the money at a Pachinko Parlor. Or he was not paying attention to his surroudings very well and was carjacked.

Flying to destinations is a two way street. As mentioned n the posts above, you have your good and out of control kids. I have sat next to both experiencing the max drama on some flights.
Get to the local pharmacy and pick up cough syrup with Braun it it. You will be sleeping like a baby with a drink or two. Or just give it to the noisy children and they will be out for a few hours. I wish I had some two years ago going to the US. The mother with two children next to me let her infant child scream, kick, etc for 9 hours straight (no joke). She put on headphones and slept ignoring him. She only woke up to feed them when the meals came and when she needed to go to the restroom.
Oh well, there are bad parents in the world and upgrades to business!

Only the folks that voted for the presidency have the right to complain. The folks that did not need to keep their opinions to themselves. President Obama is making alot of changes to quick for the people. What other country can you say the government owns 50% of the car industry, and a major stockholder in big banks? Not a whole lot. Anyway, if the people feel he is doing a less than adequate job, he will get impeached or worse yet, not get re-elected.

Maybe the J-cops should use this incident as a lessons learned for future crimes in Saitama. If doctors have a patient that shows signs of being agitated and shaking, they should notify the police immediately.

Another " I just snapped" excuse for murdering someone. She may of found out her husband and her sister had an affair then used the excuse of being in debt to kill her.

The angry homeless man story is such a joke. I would not be surprised with this story that he admits to killing 4 or 5 more women in other perfectures. He is 45 years old and decided to kill someone on the spur of the moment? I wouldn't think so, especially if he had taken the victims vehicle and cruised around for two days. Time will tell as the J-cops interrogate him for more information. Either that or he is mentally sick and will be given a lighter sentenced because he did not know what he was doing doing at the time.

I think Wakarimasen is on the right track.
Put impact barriers in front of everything public in Saitama. From sidewalks to combin's. No discrimination of age or race, just pure safety measures to protect the public.

Whoops, sorry, one last thing, I dont recall the government buying out the companies to be principle shareholders in the history books. For example, Citi-bank and bank of America, the govt bailed them out because they are the creditt card holders of the government community. Imagine if the US had no interest in those two banks?
Enough said.

****This whole story is out of control, is it about
Or the concern of the AIG Execs doing the right thing to give up thier multi-million dollar bonus's to bailout the company thaey have a contract with?
If the politicians recalled their US history, the crash of 1929 mirror our modern day econmy CRISIS. Between 1921 and 1929, the stock market increased about 300% in value peaking as it did last year. Previously before the crash, investors saw the writing on the wall and began massive sales of stocks and profit taking (executive bonus's).
Sound Familiar yet?
Oct 1929, we enjoyed a big party on Black Friday with the total breakdown of the stock market, banking institutions and the car manufactures. Even the car manufactures knew it was going to happen over a year out due to slumping car sales.
An attempt at recovery of the US economy was started with the New Deal and in particular the National Industrial Recovery Act of 1933, but a relapse happened in 1937. The only way the country came out of its delima was the entry of the United States in the Second world war in 1941.
The market indexes had shown values comparable with those preceding the 1929 only twenty-five years after the crisis.
I dont recall what the government did as a bailout for the banks or major manufacturers, but it may not have been as drastic as what is happening now. The United States will fix itself as time passes. It will not disappear in the bowls of the earth because of the greed of the big companies. And the greed of the speculative investors dumping money they cant afford in stocks, housing, land, etc. The only difference between back then and now is the amount of suicides that occurred because of the way we communicate through media for information.
Final words "Yes We Can"
