I wonder if they have denwa cops on the shinkansen when people use there cells? The sign is universal for no cell phone use.

I will have to get a bit froggy and test it out. Come get me coppers, I'm going to use my cell on the train!

Regardless of what country wins which medal, teamwork, good sportsmanship, and determination brings out the best. In this case, Japan in softball. Go Japan! Lets hope the IOC does vote softball back in 2016 so Japan can take the gold again.

Japan had 9 gold, US 36 and China 51. But who's keeping count?

Stop monkeying around, this is serious business with loose primates terrorizing the city. I am surprized they didn't call in the Keystone Cops to assist in the pursuit of these wild criminals. I wish I had a camera!

"Pilot Error", how many aircraft crashes or forced landings have ended up on fire? I myself am licensed to fly single engine Cessnas and practiced emergency landings with and without power, regardless of the fuel situation, please remind me how many fatalities occured in this mishap.

As far as my scarred for life comment, regardless if I was sarcastic or not, please review some of the lawsuits locals have placed against the (US) government for the mishaps occuring near thier homes. Enough said.

I got lost after the fourth paragraph. Tactfulness and respect will get you a lot farther when disagreeing agreeably. Understanding the big picture, then make your voice heard. That and conforming to the dress code.

Ok deep breath now, Back to the original post. The pilot/owner will more than likely have to pay the all famous gomen money to the property owners for any damage caused and lost time due to the crash. The secondary gomen money will be paid to any folks that have been traumatized by this unnatural occurrence. You know they will be scarred for life and never be able to get into an airplane to travel. A little sarcasm, but true. If you are interested in other (not helicopters) aviation mishaps in Japan, try this link. It is an eye-opener. Unfortunately it does not include the US military Aug 2004 and JMSDF May 2004 helicopter mishaps.

Did the police check the closest Pachinko Palace for the suspect? Usually after a bad streak of luck, some people get some crazy ideas to make up the lost money.

The recent political implications with aircrafts falling out of the sky is for the local city office to petition for the closure of the airport. Or so it is done near the American military air stations. The big picture of this story is the damage was limited to property and not to human lives. Thank goodness for professional pilots knowing how to react in an emergency.

Tsk Tsk, a public servant complaining about the job they were hired for. Unless it is a nationwide concern with no proactive measures taken, then gomenasai. If the Japanese government creates another city office for nuisance control, I believe they stand a chance on reducing the number of un-important calls. For example a Japan wide publicity campaign to inform the public who to call in case a snake sighting has occurred, or who to call in case an ancient spirit comes unexpectedly to their home, etc.

And I thought my betamax video tapes were high quality. Oh well, I better get one of them high tech DVD players. Move on with the times, and get over the competition thing. Blu-ray looks real nice on the home theatre as long as there is a 7.1 surround sound to back it up.

Profile this case, lets see. He lost his job, had disagreements with his family and his father was critising him on his life.

Seems like a motive to murder his father. He will probably apologize to the family tomorrow night for his bad decision and quick anger.

If not that, probably suicide later because of his shame and have a Sayonara note left behind to apoligize.

We have a saying in the U.S., What ever comes around goes around.. In this case it was a matter of time before he turned himself in or committed suicide.

martinc3779, quite the opposite, there would be a lot more crime because more criminals would want to be represented by Miss Tanimura.

    • After googling this article, I found the picture she was fired over at http://www.intlwota.com/aitakatta/2008/08/07/no-wai-boyfriend-scandal-in-akb48-oh-noes1 . Maybe it is better she changes her life goal and become an OL or she can continue trying to be a singer and follow Britney Spears footsteps and really hit the news.

    • Either way, it is a shame for the recording agency to have a clause in their contract that prohibits the young female singers from having a boy friend. Is it the same for the male singers not to have a girlfriend??

I am a little confused, conveying a death threat from a public official, caregiver, or a higher profile figure equals jail time?

A few times I have personally seen citizens at a local Izakaya convey the same threats and one time even with a physical altercation. The police arriving at the scene let them go home with a warning.

A little confused on the severity of punishment, Anyone please explain this one? This is making me a little nuts on the whole situation.
