Beneficiary is the same...as in, the public. Obamacare is forcing you to buy for the same reason. (I already explained in my 1st post...read it again)
It is interesting to note, the Republicans have said it will raise costs long term, if not bankrupt the country. The Dems have said it will pay for itself. Its interesting that the two sides are vastly far apart on how this will play out. Honestly, I dont believe either...the truth will most likely fall somewhere inbetween.

Its similar in that it is mandated to buy a product....insurance.

A couple of points.
First, if I am not mistaken, I thought some states require drivers to have car insurance. The idea being it would cost the state (and people) less money if everyone purchased it. But I never heard of anyone complaining about that. Why would this be different? I understand not everyone drives, but the vast majority of people do.
Second, both sides from the start said this issue will ultimately be decided in the supreme court. The interesting thing that will happen with that ruling is going to be one side acting like a sore loser. If the supreme court rules it unconstitutional, people will claim some kind of conspiracy...if it is ruled constitutional, people will claim an activist ruling. No matter what happens, the "defeated" side will complain because they didnt get their way. There is no respect for the process of government that is. Not good for Americas future.

I have a feeling many of the people that shout about following the Constitution, are the same people who don't want mosques in America. Can't have it both ways guys.

I think your reading skills are arrestedpaul. I AM talking about what the lawyers are going to try to prove in court. This is just my guess though. Time will tell.

This is the irony. Everyone was and is saying what a nut job he is. My guess is his lawyer will eventually claim he is not guilty by reason of insanity. Thus, he will be spared the death penalty. Can't have it both ways folks.

My family and I had a 90 minute discussion about this and let me say, it was quite emotional. But we finally decided that although we strongly disaprove of her behavior, we will in fact forgive her. But we want her to know that we will be closely monitoring her attitude and lifestyle changes.

Very true. Might there be a legitimate 3rd party to shatter the two party system in the next decade? Personally, I think a party that is financially conservative and socially liberal might resonate with many Americans...but what do I know.

Bad argument. You are starting to get into semantics. In that case you had better ban heavy metal music, violent video games, movies, and TV.

Nice try Yabits. I wish it were so, but it isnt. But the politicians are not to blame. They are just a reflection of the American public. Americans are very willing consumers of all the negative ads and chest thumping...they love it. It is what sells. Politicians will do whatever is effective to get elected. Negative and attack campaigns work. Seems to me, Americans are not very interested in rational, civil debate. They are more interested in raw emotional displays and demonizing people with opinions that differ from theirs.
American politics has turned into a circus talk show. But then again, that's what Americans love.

A couple points. Why would his being African-American be relevant to anything? Also, when are Americans going to stop calling people "African-Americans" and just say, "American"? Does it really matter what color someone is? Why does everything have to be categorized? I know some black Americans, and they have never been to Africa, and dont plan on going to Africa. They were born in America...but they are constantly called "African-American".

"Apology" and "damage control" are not the same thing. This apology is just a PR job.

Hmmmm. If it were a governor that just happened to be Muslim and said the same thing, there would be an uproar by many Americans. Double standard.

Wow. Just read that he obtained his gun legally. I guess the next question would be, if he had a history of being mentally unstable, how was he legally allowed to obtain and keep a gun?
Now I know some people will say, "A more strict gun law would not have prevented him from doing this. He would have been able to get one on the black market". That would probably be true. But if you are going to use that logic, then why doesn't the USA go ahead and make cocaine and heroin legal...and while you are at it, bazookas and RPGs etc.
There are shades of gray inbetween black and white.

This kind of illustrates my "sore loser" previous post.
It doesn't matter if she was barely re-elected. She was elected...she won. As for the healthcare "debacle" being unconstitutional...both sides have said from the beginning it will be up to the Supreme Court to decide. And if the court rules it is unconstitutional, people will need to accept that. And if the court rules it is constitutional, people will need to accept that as well.
At some point, you have to stop always complaining about things that don't always go your way and respect the process of government that is.
