The Radical Left in America is becoming more and more dangerous.

Go ahead and leave out the "left" and just say, "the radical in America are becoming more and more dangerous".

America has a pretty accurate reputation for valuing a "win at all costs" attitude towards life. Competition is highly valued. It's actually great in some respects. But on the other side, it also creates a "sore loser" attitude.

I can't believe this silliness is allowed to stand here.

It was meant to be a joke, but it was also meant to make a point. I guess you missed it. Oh well. Those that got it, got it...those that didn't, didn't.

And I didn't know the military is part of the government

It is in that tax payers fund it.

Republicans have vowed to shrink government

I wonder if this includes the 742,848 military bases that the US has scattered over the globe on foreign soil.

The folks on the left need to get realistic about immigration. A country's immigration system serves a purpose (otherwise just let anyone and everyone in the country).

The folks on the right need to get realistic about immigration. Simply saying deport all illegals now isnt practical, and neither is building an expensive wall.

If people want to amend the Constitution they are entitled to try. Personally, I think the government should hit the companies that employ illegals severely. Give them hard fines...put these companies out of business...set an example and a deterant.

Democrats have controlled the House and Senate since 2007. That's why. The bottom 40 percent of wage earners in America pay NO federal income tax. You can guess which party the majority of them vote for...

Interesing. But didnt the wars start in 2002? Why werent the taxes raised in the period between '02 and '07?

I'm suprised American taxes haven't been raised. They have been fighting two very expensive wars for quite some time.

If the 23 students and teacher had guns this could have easily been prevented.

Molenir - If this was a legal slam dunk, why wouldn't they go ahead with it? Something is missing. Don't be so cynical and eat a bran muffin or something.

There is a fine line between "classified" and "keep the public uninformed".

Seriously, the complete lack of anything being done here, goes to show just how weak and incompetent the Obama administration really is.

Politics aside, legally speaking...what options does Obama have? Any lawyers out there care to shed some light?

should serve as reminders of the continued threat nuclear weapons pose and the need to get rid of them.

Great idea. But how do we get rid of them? Who gets rid of them? Who pays for it? Who verifies it? How do we monitor it once we get rid of them? How do we account for them? How do we account for individuals/groups that have already acquire them? How do we account for individuals/groups that will aquire them in the future? What happens if a country or group decides to change their minds after the fact? Etc etc etc etc etc..........

    WilliB - I would disagree.

Over the past 100 years, there has been an amazing array of inventions, discoveries, and advancements in a wide variety of fields that has radically transformed life as we know it. Just to think that we sent an object (and people), outside this planet for the first time in history a mere 50 years ago is quite something. I wish I could be around to see what happens in the next 500 years.

Just my guess, but we probably won't lose relgion per se...but rather our view/interpreation of it and how we apply it to our lives/communities/governments will be radically different 500 years from now.

Somebody once told me, the great thing about science is it doesn't care how you feel...it just is. Gravity doesn't care how you feel...if you jump off a building, you will fall. Religion is the opposite. It's whole existence is based on how you feel. Also, in science there is a concerted effort to actually DISPROVE a theory...whereas in religion, the tendency is to dig in your heels deeper and cast aside questions/doubts.

I think that for a child it is important that parents have a committed relationship and not just live together. For a couple that is living together, there really isn't any significant tie that can help during the ups and downs and difficult times during a long relationship. Sometimes love just isn't enough. Many people stay married not only for the sake of their children but for fear of failing their marriage.

It is possible to have a committed relationship without being married.

It is possilbe to have a "significant tie" without being married.

A child doesn't care about marriage. All a child cares about is having both parents physically and emotionally present, nurturing, attentive to their needs/feelings, and the ability to help guide and support them through the stages of life development.

I would rather have a mother and father that are not married but have the above qualities, than a mother and father that are married but are dysfunctional, abusive, and abandoning.

“Nuclear weapons cannot be disinvented, but they can and must be outlawed, just as chemical and biological weapons, landmines and cluster munitions have been declared illegal,”

Drugs are also declared illegal...so I guess there are no drugs in the world.

President Barack Obama was home from the campaign trail at the White House after a weekend rush through four states. He had a radio interview on his Election Day morning schedule with Ryan Seacrest, the emcee of “American Idol” and host of a Top 40 radio program.

I have said this before many times on this site, and it seems it is more relevant than ever. American politics have turned into a cross between Jerry Springer and American Idol.

One thing I have observed about Americans in the past couple decades or so is that they tend to be very sore losers. They are very "win" driven. A lot of them can not fathom the idea that their beliefs could be wrong/in the minority. Will be interesting to see how the Obama handles his loss.
