It doesn't matter. It's a federal issue, not state.
As mentioned by lostrune2, this is about the constitution and the courts ruling on it...and most legal folks are saying Arizona has a tough fight ahead.
Time will tell.

100% Correct.

Not even close.
Its about if this the law is constitutional or unconstitutional...and the supreme court will provide a ruling in time.
But even more than that, I think this whole thing was about politics to begin with.

This Arizona deal is now more about politics than anything else.
Immigration is a federal issue. It doesn't matter if the federal government is doing their job or not...it's still a federal issue, not state.
The courts will decide what will happen. And if you talk to the qualified legal experts, most pretty much agree Arizona has an uphill battle at least, and at most they don't have a chance.
To all the extreme conservatives - Stop playing politics. Why didn't you come up with a federal solution while you were in power (it's easy to complain about a situation, but much harder to come up with realistic solutions). And if you really want to play this out in the courts, then you will have to respect the courts decisions (even if you don't like it).
To all the extreme liberals - Stop all the fear, paranoid tactics. The police are not going to start raping people with dark skin. And even if they did, you can sue for a gazillion dollars and take these issues up in court if you feel like your rights are being denied.

The Arizona immigration thing has turned more into politics than anything else.
Note to one side - immigration should be a federal issue, not state. And complaining that the federal government isn't doing its job doesn't change that.
Note to the other side - If you are a legal immigrant, you have nothing to worry about. If you are an illegal, you should not be in the counrty. And newsflash, "profiling" is a very useful tool and goes on all the time. It doesn't mean police are going to start raping everyone with dark skin.

But wait! I want to make sure my taxes are lower. Keep taxes lower! Taxes must always be lower. And make sure Obama is not a Muslim. And make sure he was not born in Africa. These are the important issues we should focus on...not this little 8.7 billion Iraqi stuff.

Without the support of the American people? I dunno.
Seems to me that American people don't have the patience or will to win a couple of wars these days. Seems like the American people are more concerned about stupid political squabbles, and watching American Idol. And despite the recession, domestic problems galore, and two wars...Americans still want taxes to be lower. Something has to give.

American politics has turned into Jerry Springer meets American Idol. Not good for the future of the country. Better leadership will be needed to address real issues down the road.
Actually I don't really blame the politicians and interest groups as much as I do the general public. Why do they buy into all the stupid games? Aren't they smarter than getting caught up in a bunch of BS? Then again, why do so many people watch Jerry Springer and American Idol?

I have always wondered this as well. Im all for a country having a strong defence, but it seems the US spends waaaaay too much money in this area.
Dont know if this is true, but I heard the US spends as much money on defence as the next 15 countries combined. If true, this seems pretty silly to me.

This is a non story.
He is the CEO of a company that brings in a zillion dollars. He has quite a large salary. He's into yacht racing...big deal.
I wonder if this would be news if he went to a baseball game or went biking for a day.
The way the dude has handled the spill is comical. But gee...let the guy have a day off with his family.

You kind of made my point. This isn't Britian. And it isn't USA. It's Japan. And it's quite common here. And the typical reaction might not be to your liking. So, you have some choices. Simply venting about it over a beer (or an internet message board) won't do much.

There are lots of countries around the world that run themselves into the ground...but why doesnt America "liberate" those countries? Why doesnt America go into Africa? North Korea? Why does America feel obligated to play world police? America has some pretty serious problems of its own to deal with. Take care of them.
As for WMD, the whole premise for invading Iraq never materialized. Also, I find it pompus that America has a lot of nukes (and used two of them), but tells other governments they cant have them. I know there are dangerous leaders out there. I know there are crazy leaders out there...but this strategy of "we can have these weapons but you cant" is not going to work in the long run.
