Think you guys are missing the point on this one.
I have talked to several teachers about this monster parent thing. Seems to me its just another example of bullying, this time from the parents.
Monster parents will call the teacher at home five nights a weeks and want to talk for two hours. Parents will demand their teacher meet the student outside of class off school campus. Parents will demand their child get a good grade, even if it is not earned.
And the schools will not back up the teachers to say "no" to any of it...because they dont want any confrontation.
Bizzare.

Charity is great for a niche organization or a one time disaster event. But we are talking about 300 million people, a service that is daily and is a huge part of the national economy. If it were solely up to charity, some people would get more than others...kind of like how the health care system was.
Moderator: Back on topic please. Comments should focus on the death threats.

Maybe this is getting into semantics, but the government helping people out and individuals helping people out could be one in the same (taxes). I dont know...I guess when you are talking about roads, libraries, schools, airports, military, health care etc...there has to be some level of government involvement (even if I dont use/am against supporting these things).

Not saying 300 million people would do the same. But at the same time, it shouldnt suprise anyone that this would happen in American either.
The way the conservatives are handling this whole bill is a disgrace (I know Im generalizing). They are really being sore losers and acting like kids. They can and should do better than this. It would be nice to see some better leadership/ideas from the conservatives.

Well, if thats the case, you shouldnt blame the Dems or the bill (I dont know if you have). You should blame the system of government then.

This is what I dont get...Usually Americans are very charitable. When disaster strikes Americans offer a helping hand or open their wallets. But yet when it comes to health care...for some reason it is different.
America is the richest, most powerful and greatest country on Earth...or so Im told. If that is true, surely it can provide a basic standard of health care for its dear citizens.

What a sad reflection of America.
Even if you disagree with decisions, you have to respect the process of government.

Interesting twist on it. I guess the Dems do own it because the none of the Reps voted for it.
In fact, it seems the Reps are against pretty much everything that Obama breathes on. In my opinion, this is not good in the long run for the Rep party. The Reps are better than that. They are shooting themselves in the foot.
Of course there will be negatives. Thats to be expected. This is a huge change. But I think the point the Dems are trying to make is the positives outweigh the negatives. Point being, this is a great first step in changing a health care system that was broken.

Someone mentioned something to me the other day that made me think.
The rebublicans are squaking quite loudly about how this reform is going to be bad for America and how it will destroy the dems in the upcoming elections.
Well, if that was the case, the republicans should be gleeful in the position they are sitting right now. It would only be a matter of short time before the republicans will take back control of the government.
The idea was, republicans are making a fuss not because they think the reform will fail...but because they think it might succeed.

This is ok but if they really wanted to make a dent in this problem they would:
Put (more) undercover female cops on the trains. 75,000 Yen fine and one day in jail mandatory. Let them explain to their employer why they have to miss a day of work.
