I love the claim that rest of the world calls it "Sea of Japan". It calls it Sea of Japan bc Japan enforced it's colonial ambitions and propagated that name during 20th century. I suppose Korea and Manchuria would be called "Japan" if Japan had its way and then you all would be claiming that the rest of the world calls Korea and Manchuria Japan. China, the two Korea's and ALL the surround Asian countries have historically and contemporarily call it the East Sea. Facts become inconvenient when you're trying to twist the truth.

Japan in singular among developed nations that still glorifies fascist era in its history while white-washing its war atrocities. Let's not mince words and play "saving face". It's 2014. Time to own up. Enough with the denials and blaming the victims please.

Names change. That body of water is known as the East Sea by all countries in Asia EXCEPT Japan who imposed that moniker in the midst of its colonial ambitions. What's surprising about noting lack of consensus in textbooks? Democratic process at work.

Abe just oozes sleaze. Comes to PM office promising to retract WWII Japanese Sex Slaves and denying war atrocities and then visit Anne Frank House to kowtow acknowledgment to Western WWII atrocities. How about a visit to surviving women in Korea's House of Sharing or a tour of Nanjing?

Nice of Abe to be "deeply pained" about women he has said were non-coerced prostitutes. "I'm sorry you were whores" will be received nicely I'm sure.

What Korea is hearing from Japan:
-Japan didn't do anything wrong and sex workers were volunteer prostitutes
-Japan already apologized and paid you off even though and Abe feels deeply pained for the women survivors whom he called volunteer prostitutes during campaign and in office.

Seriously, what's up with Japan and denial??? WWII atrocities, under-rating Tohoku crisis, etc..
Posted in: Japanese society has shown no sign of change even after the massive nuclear accident. Nobody takes responsibility for the crisis.

Good grief. Japan didn't commit atrocities and Comfort Women were regular prostitutes but Japan already apologized and compensated for something they didn't do. Abe ran on promise to rescind the apology but Japan already apologized. Yasukuni is filled with rabid revisionist propaganda and glorification of imperial militarism but it's devoted to peace. I suppose this is the "All Your Base Are Belong To Us" doctrine at work.

Japan needs to own up to their crimes and let Asia move on. When you point to your past apologies all the while claiming what you apologized for never happened and then having a PM who campaigned in repealing the apologies, you are going to piss off your victimized nations. Egregious whitewashing and denials are dime a dozen. You would have to be demented to not realize why this is still a hotbed issue for Japan.

Group C is one of the easiest groups so far. LOL. Just bc some over some lone zealous Japanese writer says its the group of death doesn't make it so. Korea has an easy group too but not as easy as Japan. Belgium>Columbia, Russia>Greece, Algeria<IC. That said both Korea and Japan got lucky in the draw.

As Korean NT fan, I would take issue with assertion that Japan "dominates" Asia. Iran, Aus, Japan, Korea are fairly neck and neck although Iran and Australia have fallen off a bit in the last few years. That said, Japan has had far better preparation for WC out of Asia as well a pretty sweet grouping. Can't wait for Brazil.

This is the best case scenario for Japan. Bookies have been underrating Japan and Korea as well as their NT players in Euro clubs for years. Make some money and make a bet on Japan finishing second in this group. My odds: Columbia 8/11, Japan 7/2, Ivory Coast 6/1, and Greece 4/1. Greece are going to be whipping boy in this group. Ivory Coast is going to be tough but African team have a hard time with Asian teams.

Even in the racial boiling pot that is the US, it is inconceivable for people to be screaming into bullhorns in public that jews/blacks/hispanics should be killed. That has happened in Japan with regularity with little to no resistance from the Japanese public for years and years now. Counter demonstrations and court cases are positive news but in drops in a bucket. There really is no other developed country in the world where such behavior and sentiments are accepted as part of the social political discourse as it is in Japan.

No islands that Koreans have been staring at and fishing on for thousands of years wasn't somehow miraculously claimed terra nullis by Japan in 1905... cough cough few years before I suppose Japanese then "discovered" the Korean peninsula. LOL.

I would be convinced if they finally stopped bleeding radioactive leaks into the ocean and secured the site... which TEPCO and Japanese government has been lying and under-admitting the entire time. The site needs to be given over to international commission of specialists.

Good grief. No one claiming that hate speech should be illegal. But this level of hate speech in a public arena where Japanese crazies are shouting on bullhorns to kill Koreans should be condemned publicly and loudly rather. Instead the hatemongers are given silent consent by the Japanese society. The fact that 2,000 protested these hatemongers is a boon to Japanese society and national pride.

What's sad is that the entire nation isn't telling these crazies to shut up. What other modern civilized country do you know where's it's socially acceptable to publicly scream into a bullhorn to kill ethnic minorities? Japan has a lot of catching up to do.
