The problem is not that Japan already apologized that but Japan is denying war atrocities. How can you claim you've apologized for things that you are denying that you did?????

It doesn't matter if it's personal or official. Yasukuni is a bastion of revisionism where propaganda glorifying fascist Japan and fascist ideology takes center stage. It is a cancer of Japanese society and a source of international shame.

Survivors???? Are you friggin kidding me. US didn't murder and abuse Japanese Americans, the way Japan did as it wrecked havoc across Asia and the Pacific. JAPAN WAS NOT A VICTIM. Get over it.

China may be a bad actor but it is somewhat ridiculous to commemorate Hiroshima bombing as if Japan was a victim nation while ignoring the atrocities committed against japan's neighbors. That is deeply problematic.

The bombs were a godsend and it killed the racist, fascist Japanese era in history. Japan should thank the US for those bombs and saving them from an even more shameful WWII legacy.

Is this a joke? Japan was a fascist, racist empire trying to emulate Nazi Germany in the Pacific who saw their emperor as a god and themselves as a divine race. Japan had already murdered millions and the cost of lives to all countries involved would have continued to rack up. Japan went far beyond its borders murdering, pillaging, raping, and the like. Mind you that the bio diseases developed on live human beings was actually used on the US in an attempt to cause mass civilian deaths in the US. It failed but the attempt was there. The bombs should have been dropped at the start of the war frankly and saved the world all the atrocities and misery inflicted by Japan in the first place.

For those of you not schooled in the US and not familiar with feminist critical theory, there is a history in American popular culture and media where ASIAN WOMEN are objectified and fetishized as being subservient, exotic and sexualized. This has profound implications in how Asian women are portrayed, treated, oppressed, victimized. Feminists and Asian American feminists would not be ok with cartoon characters with 8 year old features being portrayed with hyper exaggerated sexual features. These women were probably saw the museum portraying an early fetishization of Asian women and culture by having museum goers dress up and reenact the fetishization. You can argue that it's acceptable and there is a sense of naivety when MOnet did it but it's not ok in 2015. This is not my position, I'm just giving you a possible reason for why these women were protesting. Seems like a lot of you never learned feminist theories and are making racist comments about Koreans and Chinese instead. Nippon Ganbare.

Obviously protests were by overly zealous Asian-American feminist grad school student types. Pretty run of mill especially at an academic town like Boston. But this is real racist comment: "YuriOtaniJUL. 09, 2015 - 07:26AM I think the protestors were Korean." Maybe they were, maybe they were Chinese-Am but dragging in racist assumptions is the real racism to be noted here.

You kind of saw that coming. US was peaking at the right moment and IMO the winning team is the best women's football team ever. Good on Japan for making it 4-2 at one point in the game but US would've rolled over any team in the tournament.

Japan is the ONLY country in the world that has modernized, industrialized, democratized and still struggles with fascist ideology from 20th century. You can point to atrocities committed by US, Korea, or European countries but none of these countries deny their past history let alone glorify it the way that Japan does.

LOLOL. Ok I think it's pretty definitive end to this "deabte" when even the "takeshima" crowd can't give half-nonhilarious response. So multiple maps made by Japanese academics show Dokdo as being Korean property and so far the responses are: 1. Just bc it's not within Japan doesn't mean it's KOrea's. LOL cartographer even colored Dokdo same color as Korea. 2. The boundary lines that show Dokdo as being outside of Japan and Korea aren't "national boundary" lines. LOL. I guess not since in their view the other side of line is Korea which was soon to be part of Japan. 3. Koreans have to use Japanese map bc they can't even plot Dokdo in their own map. LOLOL. No there are plenty of Korean maps that show Dokdo within Korean boundary. I'm just showing Japanese maps for obvious reasons. Give me a break.

No, unless you want to South Korea bringing in 500 abducted by North Korea and N and S Korea jointly bringing 5.4 million abducted during Japanese occupation in the discussion.

LOL. The Japanese maps clearly show the boundary going around Ullungdo and Dokdo but the boundary is not "national boundary"?? LOL I suppose that's true since Japan invaded Korea and claimed the entire peninsula. You have to be blind not see the line delineating Korea and Japan. The "other island" is described as being separated to Ullungdo as Oki is to Japanese mainland. That's Dokdo. These are some laughable claims.

Japanese Ministry of Culture 1887 shows Dokdo to be Korean territory: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7dyREffv9bw/UD6hdm48nMI/AAAAAAAAG0I/PIh9tyiqCvM/s1600/Dokdo+in+Japanese+Textbook.jpg There are dozens of these Japanese historical references that indicate Dokdo as Korean territory. Not a single Korean historical reference makes the counter-mistake.
