Believe it or not, there are no public speeches or demonstrations in Korea where they openly call Japanese cockroaches and racist insults. The fact that these hate speech incidences occur in Japan by neo-fascist types is an embarrassment to decent Japanese.

I actually think Japanese cinema is too stuck on anime form of story-telling rather than actually telling a story as it's own art media. You see this in how the scenes are used, cliched patterns used over and over again. Japanese film creators need a hard break with anime.

Korea u23 played the first half of their lives and forgot that there was a second half and played right into japan's tactic of defense focused play as they ran oit of gas. Total lack of management experience as well as player experience for Korea but then that's why these tourneys are valuable. Motm japanese coach.

LOL. I have no problem if Japanese want to eat mercury contaminated, cancer causing whale meat but banning this guy from entering Japan is ridiculous.

She a typical turncoat in Korean society. They always exist in colonial contexts. This is a very well worn narrative in Korea.

What a fiasco of "apology" BS. Abe came into power running on platform to rescind the Kono statement and then claimed that Comfort Women were "willing" prostitutes calling surviving women and those who died from Korea, China, Philippines, Australia, Netherlands, Malaysia, all liars. Abe then celebrates the "apology" with statements about how Japan won't be hassled by the issue. Then this clown MP repeats the moronic denial again. Japan obvious does not feel "apologetic" about anything since its leaders don't even think Japan did anything wrong. It must be some Japanese zen magic to deny and apologize at the same time. I didn't do it but I'm sorry it happened but I didn't do it.

LOL. It's is pathetic and somewhat hilarious that posters in 2016 think it's somehow appropriate to whine about having to deal with victims who were RAPED by Japanese soldiers. That's what happens when you you rape, murder, steal and the like. How about apply a smidgen of honor, decency, honesty and just own up to your crimes. You are talking about pennies in comparison to rest of Japan's budget. Apologizing and acting honorably to all these poor women and victims will do about 100 times more good for Japan's image than all the stupid and cheesy PR campaigns.

Japan should grow up and own up to ALL it's war crimes so that the world can move on. The reason why this statue was created bc Abe stirred up the waters by making comments about Comfort Women being not coerced and now he's suddenly making "apologies" while immediately declaring Japan won't be pestered by this issue anymore rather than showing any signs of genuine contrition. This statue isn't government property and created, paid by and maintained by lawful NPO/NGO's.

This is like Japan telling the US government to control Greenpeace. Korean Council for Women Drafted for Sexual Slavery by Japan is an independent NPO. The Korean government can't tell them what to do. Also the Korean government nor the surviving sex slaves don't really care about money. These grandmothers don't have families and are facing death in the face. They want Japan to take responsibility for its WWII crimes.

Think about how much choice a 15, 16 year old girl who is starving has when she is shipped across the globe and placed in a camp with military men. Just bc there are stories of kindness or girls capitulating to their situations doesn't really change the narrative all that much.

How about Japan make atonement for its crimes starting with full admission before worrying about how the victimized women commemorate their tragedies? What a bald faced, immoral proposition... not a shred of decency or humane conscience.
melonbarmonsterNov. 18, 2015 - 05:53AM JST
The only people who have any issues with the Comfort Women statutes around the world are Japanese. That's should be a point of shame for decent Japanese people.
melonbarmonsterNov. 18, 2015 - 05:48AM JST
Good grief. Arguing over 3% is illustrative of why this problem exists in the first place. Rather than worrying about whatever percentage of girls who are being victimized in the sex trade, Japan is more interested in denying any self-perceived criticism. The entire world know Japan sexualizes girls.

Japan can you please just stop the back peddling and denying and admit what happened so the entire world can move on? It's 2015. Only insane fringe freaks deny war atrocities from 20th century except in Japan it's the ruling political party.

The communist variant of Chinese nationalism is pretty unbearable but Japan would do well for itself if it just owned up to its atrocities without the whitewashing, backpeddling, undermining, and the like. Look at the comments even in this section and you wonder why this bad blood persists.

The problem is not that Japan already apologized that but Japan is denying war atrocities. How can you claim you've apologized for things that you are denying that you did?????

It doesn't matter if it's personal or official. Yasukuni is a bastion of revisionism where propaganda glorifying fascist Japan and fascist ideology takes center stage. It is a cancer of Japanese society and a source of international shame.
