Too bad Cynthia wasn't here when Charisma Man was around, not that he would have been interested in comforting her!!! Most gaijin women seem to last around 1yr to 18 months and usually say sayonara after disastrous attempted conjugations with local men or loneliness kicks in.

A great article and very illuminating. Some of the words do honour their original inventors like Hotchkiss-stapler and Roentogen-X Rays. Winka for indicator got me for a long time along with Klaxon for horn and handle for steering wheel.

It reminds me of the old joke-You can always tell when a politician is lying-their lips move!!! Of course he doesn't want hyperinflation, as the last PM who stoked it up between the wars was assassinated by the military.

A very sad story and one that will haunt the parents and the driver for their future lives. The drivers of today have too many distractions while driving,TV,movies,Navis,Mobile phones,GPS,SMS etc. I do hope he had a dashboard cam that was working and will possibly apportion blame, although its probably 99pc the drivers fault in this case.

Very few people in Japan would even be aware of these devices as the Japanese believe them to be called a hotchkiss, after their original name and inventor. They would have to be marketed as hotchkissless hotchkisses!!! Quite a mouthfull.

Its been Number 1 for a while in the UK and even the Prime Minister and Lord Mayor of London have been dancing to it. I think the Japanese cannot see that it has elements of parody, self mocking and irony in it which they probably dont understand.PSY has been on US TV and his English is very good which is also probably annoying to the Japanese. The song is about an area of Seoul called Gangnam and the rappers/dudes who come from that area of which Psy is one.

It was obvious that Stringer was bought in to do some slashing and burning in removing the effete middle management at Sony and allow the engineers and designers to take hold of the company again,as in Moritas vision.Japanese companies often do this when some unpalatable decisions about firing and downsizing have to be made.Sony have made a lot of bad decisions along the way.Nearly everyone knew and thought that the MP3 player was the natural successor to the Walkman. Apple quickly stepped in. Sony has also had some other failures and dead end products in the past.Betamax,Aibo,3D TV. They won the DVD format war with Blue Ray,but that will soon be history as optical storage is on its way out.Look at the price of blank Blue Ray discs!!! Im still surprised that they have not developed a distinct logo for their company as much market penetration is not in an English speaking world? Many think its an American company.Perhaps the Blue Ray design, trade name and logo was a way to get away from Sony rather like Lexus with Toyota? Lets hope the aptly named VITA from the latin for vitality and energy turns things around and Stringer returns to the Green Green Grass of Home.

Its probable that most of the cars were fitted with on board video cameras that records a history of travel for possible insurance claims or accidents. No doubt these will quickly be viewed by the police unless the drivers quickly took the SD cards out?

The problem, as I see it, is that the owners keep the imported steering wheel on the left so it looks cool and sophisticated as a foreign import. They would find overtaking very difficult in this situation unless they have had externsive training in driving these sorts of vehicles. Its about time Japan stopped Foreign imports of these kinds of cars unless the owner agrees to change the steering to comply with Japanese roads.
