I would have thought that purchasing power resources from abroad would weaken the yen? Regardless, the high yen is in their favour at the moment, because it allows them to purchase resources more cheaply than if the yen was low.

There is also the unyet unharnessed kinetic energy that comes from the movement of 128,057,352 individuals in Japan. Harness that and you'd feed a starving airconditioner for weeks. At 2:16am I felt what I thought was an earthquake. It turned out it was the explosion in Yamaguchi. I'm still finding it hard to believe that the explosion was the cause of the shaking.
