I agree, the video that sailwind posted does not convince that Hamas uses children as shields. We have no idea what's going on in the video. For all we know, the Hamas soldier could have been saving the kid from a leftover cluster bomb that Israel left behind.

I resent that you say that "my" history is one-sided. I have presented nothing but readily available cold facts that no one on either side would dispute.
I have been following Hamas for years. I am familiar with their principals. By defending them, you are rooting for an organization of killers. I want you to know that. An organization that REFUSES PEACE.
If you want freedom fighters, turn to Fatah or the PLO. I support Abbas, I think he's a good man. Hamas are killers with no respect to life. Don't blind yourself to these facts. Don't take sides in the endless "conservative" vs "liberal" debate. They don't apply here.
Do go to Hamas' website. Do read their platform. Do enlighten yourself straight from the source.

Hamas' refusal to accept peace is what has created the terrible situation in Gaza and the reason why there is not a two state solution (don't forget that Hamas is still at war with Fatah, who control the west bank).
What's Hamas to do? Come on, man. For starters they can change their policy from "destruction" to "peace."

I'm disappointed in your post. I usually agree with you and your insight.
But this time, you are misinformed.
I am not defending Israel here. I'm not taking a side. I am trying to be a nonbiased Jewish boy looking just at the facts. I'm disgusted with Israel's methods of retaliation.
That said, Hamas is absolute scum. They build schools and hospitals? So what. That is the job of every government. Do you know Hamas? Do remember when they sent suicide bombers to kill children across the border? Do you remember when they used teenage suicide bombers? Do you recall their platform, which not only uses the Protocols of the Elders of Zion (same text the Nazi's used to justify their killings), but REFUSES peace.
This is a group that will send their youth to suicide before accepting peace. They will not stop until the Israeli's are dead. Don't forget what they did to Fatah before the Gaza strip was shut down.
And please note that the strip is shut not just be Israel, but Egypt as well.
Go to their site. Read their manifesto. Know who you are defending.

If Israel wanted to commit genocide, they could easily do that by wiping out the area.
I think Israel's actions are foolish attempts to desperately protect their people.
Anyway, as someone from the "in crowd," I can assure you that there is never talk about wiping out any people. People want to feel safe. Israel has been pushed to the brink of insanity.

Hamas wins in two ways here:
one, Israel looks like a murderous bully in the international media
two, Israel is creating the next generation of fighters for Hamas

I can't believe that people are defending Hamas.
Let's take a step back here people.
Look, I'm about as left as you can get.. but let's look at some recent history and try to understand how things got so bad for the Palestinians.
Before Hamas gained political power, they were a militant organization dedicated to the destruction of Israel. They are killers who cherish the spilling of blood of anyone on the Israeli side. They used suicide techniques (and continue to try, now employing teenage girl bombers) to blow up buses and cafes. Israel had no choice but to develop racist counter measures to protect it's own people. Hamas takes advantage of every opening, no one can forget when Israel completely pulled it's citizens out of Gaza and Hamas responded by lobbing rockets.
Now that Hamas is the democratically elected rulers of Gaza, their rocket attacks are an act of war. Let's make peace Abbas and Fatah attempted to stop Hamas, but were ousted from Gaza in a civil war.
From there there things rotted into the present situation.
Now having said that, I personally feel that Israel's aggression is overboard and flat-out wrong.
There are repeating there 1000 person killing tactics from the 2006 Hezbollah war which played right into the hands of Hezbollah by disgusting the world with their (IDF) indiscriminate bombings and killings. And let's not forget that Israel dropped cluster bombs in civilian areas.
Hamas is not going to stop the rocket fire. They need it to provoke these attacks from Israel. Every time Israel hits civilians, it makes Hamas stronger, not only in the heart and minds of their people, but through the internet across the world, as proven by some of the Hamas siding posts on this site.

Hamas, while the democratically elected government of Gaza, is and has always been a militant organization whose goal is the destruction of Israel. Remember the war between Hamas and (let's make peace with Israel) Fatah?
Indeed, the real kawaisou matter is the Palestinian people. But they did elect Hamas. It's not a simple situation.

It depends on where you live.
In the countryside, a car is a necessity. But in the metro area, a car is rather unaffordable.
When I lived in the countryside, I paid 4000 yen a month for parking. When I moved to the city, parking cost almost 2man. I had to get rid of it.

When I first came to Japan, was walking along the platform talking on the phone and then FWOOSH an express train passed by. I'm lucky to be alive. It's so easy to not pay attention.
Saw a little by peering his head over the edge the other day. Father scolded him heavily.
