“To me, as a Jew, that’s like having diplomatic relations with Hitler,” she said. “As a result, he lost my vote.”
I want to say this as a Jew.
What if we had a better diplomatic relationship with Hitler? One that could have influenced him?
I bad could that have been?
Talking to the "enemy" is bad = bang head against concrete wall over and over and over and over and over
Moderator: Readers, please stay on topic. References to Hitler are not relevant.

This is such a non-issue. I'm an American Jew living in Japan and I'm critical of Israel, the US and Japan. Doesn't mean I don't respect the three countries.
The most frustrating concept that the right has ushered in is that you can't listen to the other side of a story without being a trator.

This proposition, as reported in the article, is a HORRIBLE idea.
Regulation is the way to go. Everyone should be screened and registered by the police. By screened, i mean interviews and background checks of all sex workers to insure that they are not slaves. However, even so, the traffickers are likely to produce false documentation.
As someone who is violently against human trafficking, I pray that this law does not pass.

It's good that our "enemies" are supporting our upcoming leader. This will lead to talks and reconcilation. This tough stance that Bush has taken has only made international relationships sour.
No matter the country, no matter the culture, people are people.
When you read a shocking statement in the news, remember the reporter decided to include that statement in his/her article. We have no way of knowing if that represents how everyone thinks.
Imagine if someone you disagreed with on this site represented your country to the other side.

I thought McCain did a great job. He's a great debator.
Obama's style disappointed me. He turned everything into, "but the American people care about this issue so I'm going to talk about it instead of arguing."
Good thing I don't look for a debator when voting for a President.
Obama won me over with his primary speeches. Just the President I've been hoping for.

The issue here is the definition of marriage which America has always defined as being between a single man and a single woman. It's an institution that defines American culture and values, just like other cultures in the world. Polygamist marriage is not allowed in America. Incestual marriage is not allowed in America. Children are not allowed to marry in America. Many groups aren't allowed to marry in America so stop making it a gay issue. It's about the definition of marriage.
It's really about attacking American values rather than actual concern about gays.
You couldn't be more wrong.
First mistake is dividing "gays" into a group that's not "you." The point is that gays are human.
Gays are currently discriminated against, by you, just as blacks and women were in the past. How does it in anyway hurt you if two people are allowed to legally enjoy their love and happiness? It makes no sense.
No one is talking about group marriage. That's just a device that anti-gay marriage activists came up with to scare people from accepting gay marriage.
Also no one is talking about children getting married. We are talking about homosexual adults. I have no idea how you link homosexual marriage to polygamy and child abuse. It just shows how little you understand the issue. If you have gay friends, why don't you talk to them and ask their opinions on the matter? If you care about your friends, why don't you think twice before voting for legislation that will have no impact on your life, while subjecting them to a life without the legal benefits that homosexual couples can receive.

The root of the problem is that "shikata ga nai" attitude drilled into people from birth.
So now we have a nation of people who don't stand up to these companies who force illegal labor.
I am a foreign worker in Japan disgusted at how my rights are abused by the system.
For example, all people in Japan including foreign workers have to enter shakai hoken, which is really expensive, about 2,3 man en a month.
To offset this expense, companies are required to pay shakai hoken for their full time workers. However all temp workers in Japan are excempt from coverage. This includes 95% of foreign workers because our visas are short term, despite renewing it year after year.

Sarge, Helter Skelter,
You don't get it so I will explain it to you.
The idea is that marriage is a union between two people who love each other. This excludes animals and groups of 3 or more. Being gay is normal, healthy behavior and I'll explain why.
First, 10% of the human population is gay. That is a HUGE number. 1/3 of these people attempt suicide in their teenage years. A great number hide their sexual orientation because of people like you.
You have to accept that there is more than one sexual orientation. We have:
Heteosexual Homosexual Bi-sexual and then transgendered people, male mind/female body and vice-versa
Now, I realize that you've been taught to think this is wrong or gross. However, upon accepting these truths, your heart will open to the idea of gay marriage as a fair and just right. Think of black and women suffrage. It is human, and especially American, nature to hold prejudices against minorities that we don't understand.
People are gay just like you and I are straight. Our bodies tell us to be attracted to people of the opposite sex. For gays, they are attracted to people of the same sex.
So, if 10% of our population is gay, and they as humans, fall in love and want to marry (in a society where marriage is necessary for legal priveledges), what may I ask you is wrong with gay marriage?
How does it not make someone a bigot to be against gay marriage?

Okay, one, Palin is not an idiot.
She gave idiotic answers at interviews, but maybe, just maybe she was nervous and her brain was moving too fast for her words. This often happens to me as well.
Two, Sarge is right, millions of people are proud of Palin for her decisions.
I highly respected Palin until the "palling with terrorists" comments.
Three, Palin brought her troubles on herself. Irresponsible comments that were just inhaled by her crowd.
A question to her supporters, if Palin ran in the primaries, would you have voted for her? If the answer is yes, do you think she should be on the top of the ticket?
Just curious.
Here's the basic truth and why it's so futile to argue here.
We are divided into two teams, left and right. Whoever is on our team, we will support in order to beat the other team.
Personally, I love Obama. Don't care for Clinton, but if she won, I would be fighting for her.
I think you guys supporting Palin are fighting for her because you're told to. Look at how easily you accept and repeat the propaganda-like attacks she as laid out on Obama. You guys just repeat it over and over as if that's all you know how to say.
Sushisake3 is right, you have no solid argument.
And here's another truth, as ProfessorJ pointed out, the right's argument lacks intelligence.
It's pure emotion.
After the Arab comment, I almost felt bad for McCain. He must have been like, "My God, what have we done?"
The Republican vote is dependent on the masses who don't think for themselves and will swallow anything they're told. The sad thing is, the Republican party, as it is today, serves the interests of Big Business. The guys in the party a rich guys. Count the number of CEOs that join the party. Big Business supported by non-thinking masses.
And yes, Sarge, VOR, coulrophobic, and especially MrDickMorris, your argument is lacking in that cognitive factor.
