There was probably a complaint about the highlights to his boss. The boss relayed the complaint in a way that didn't reveal that the client complained in the first place. The Japanese way.

After some deliberation, I voted yes, but the reference should be kept minute. Something along the lines as to "these events led down the path of this conclusion. let us not repeat this"

Look at al-Qaida's history and you will see that their attacks are sporadic. Just because there hasn't been a mainland attack in the past 9 years does not mean that all attempts at attacking have failed.
They are more patient than we are.

Hmm.. I'm an ALT and have had no problems disciplining students.
Sure it makes the teachers feel uncomfortable and the students are surprised by it, but let's face it, it earns respect.
Whenever I come across what appears to be bullying (most of the times it's just kids joking around), I'll get between the kid being hit and the hitter and say something like "NO IJIME" and pretend to punch the "bully" in the stomach. I do this sarcastically, but it works. Never had a problem so far.

> societymike at 07:08 PM JST - 10th July I do not see how (or like) the bible refference is relevant in this article. Just silly needless quoting. Furthermore, starting the article out with a ficticious quote is a good way to make readers disregard anything written
I don't get what you don't see. The Tower of Babel is a well known story with a universal moral lesson (lose sight of who you are and fall apart) and then it's correlated to a series of coincidences where the economy has been in a slump around the time major structures are completed.

I agree with Cleo. Make it all seats priority like the Yokohama subway.
Whenever I see an elderly person standing by the priority seats, I ask in a loud voice, "Sumimasen. Goseki mitsukemashouka?" so simple, yet effective

If you've seen what are in some of these comics, you know it's obscenity. It's an insult to artists to call this art. It's just a physical manifestation of perversions.

If it was a normal amount of money stolen, I would question if it were a foreigner. But this amount makes it seem like a professional hit.

None of us want to believe that this story is true. But wait for the facts before formulating an opinion. There are foreign crime groups like the Pink Panthers who do operations in Japan. It is plausible that one was dressed like a businessman and staking out an easy target in the bank. When he saw an elderly woman take out so much cash, he followed her out abd robbed her. Very conceivale scenereo for criminals who would cone to Japan with the sole purpose of such an operation. Hope the woman is okay.

Kanji is essential for speaking. Just because kanji cannot be seen whilespeakkng doesn't mean that it's not there. I don't think it's kanji that makes Japanese difficult. It's the grammar.
