Because this isn't a satellite based system. The Boeing system was heavy and the dome that got put on top of the airplane created some enough drag to cost a fair amount of money in fuel. In addition that dome required modifications to the hull for additional strength. The entire interior cabin had to be taken apart, putting the planes out of service for up to a month. That was a LOT of money in downtime, fuel, and setup.

The new system is land based RF. The equipment is light, and doesn't require nearly as much change for the plane. This is a US system only. It will not work for international.

Getting into small Jet's make sense. A lot of airlines are getting rid of old 100 or so seat planes (like MD80's and DC9s) over the next 5-10 years. They are looking to downsize seats into the 75-80 passenger range. In addition, they want the new planes to be able to have a domestic first class area. More demand, and more quality expected for the next generation of planes.

Emirates is a very nice airline, but most people in the west have no reason to ever fly them based on the routes they offer. The new business from Continental is a nice product, and they are one of the last airlines to still have free meals for coach on long domestic flights.

How could you not know? They have Logos for the cards at the checkouts. Bought a Nintendo DS for a relative a few months ago. Would have been nice to get a little kick back.

If IT workers are in demand so much in Japan then why doesn't the Salaries show it? They don't seem nearly as good as US or EU pay.

The CG series is based on the 2003 animated series by Genndy Tartakovsky (For Cartoon Network US). The CG version attempts (poorly) to copy the style that Tartokovsky designed. Sure, Pixar is way better at CG Feature Films, but it's Star Wars. It'll make tons of money.

I work with Fujitsu IT folks every day. In the US they are all American workers (they bought a US IT consulting company to get the workforce), in Japan, it's all Japanese. They just have no desire diversify the work forces. It's all very segregated.

Note: That's not Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca). Just a cosplayer. I've met Mayhew several times and he's over 7 feet tall.

IMAX has been doing feature movies since Star Wars Episode One came out. However, not many movies came out until they figured out how to fit more than 2hrs on a reel. (The IMAX Ep I had to be seriously trimmed to fit under the limit.)

At any rate, the economics of IMAX documentaries is much better than feature films. Cheaper to make, much shorter (more daily screenings), and the venues that play them are usually museums. Tickets are sold as part of admission packages. Which is why not nearly as many IMAXs play the feature films.

I saw the last Super Man movie (with certain scenes in 3D) in the local IMAX. Not bad, but I don't know if extra screen size really warranted the extra ticket cost. The latest Dark Knight movie also had an IMAX release. A number of action scenes were actually filmed in 70mm IMAX cameras, instead of the converted 35mm process other IMAX feature films have done.

I don't get it. Not the cosplay. The big deal people make about it. People have been dressing up in costumes since the 15th century in Europe. i.e. Masquerade, Carnival, etc. I don't view it as childlike per se. It's just something people do.

If I had to choose between being in a place full of Japanese Cosplayers all dressed up, or western football fans all dressed up, I'll take the Cosplayers.

RR is owned by BMW these days. Most of the parts are made in Germany, though it's still assembled by hand in Sussex. I don't know where you would park it. It's wider than a Cadillac DTS... Almost as wide as the Escalade SUV.

The imperial family is not going to do a PDA for the sake of the cameras. Royal families all over the world tend to be a pretty stiff lot.

Most people use the PS3 to playback Blu-Ray. Even hard core videophiles. The PS3 continues to add features with every firmware update. The fact that it's essentially a really really fast computer means the player is quite flexible and upgradeable.

That being said the adoption rate of any HD format will be slow because most people are happy with DVD.

This movie is one of the better Jet Black movies. Mostly because he doesn't get to do a lot of ad lib.

I think a better question isn't about Woods but the companies that pay him. If I were a share holder in a company that was paying out $100M I would really have to question the value proposition THAT much money brings.

Given that woods makes his money directly from sponsors and placement in the tournaments I don't see an issue. It's not like he's a star player on a baseball or football team that is extracting as much money as they can (often to the determent of the team as a whole.)

I think the heart of the question is the quality of conversational English in Japan. They speak English as well as I speak Japanese. Neither are all that good, but they've had 4-6 years of classroom training, and I've had one year of computer based training.

Point being people in the west tend to conversationally speak languages at an intermediate level after 3-4 years of class. They don't depend on finding speakers to practice with either. So what gives?!

I watched "I Survive". It's not really a true game show. The game show is fake, but in the style. But there is a huge (and annoying) Reality show aspect to it. Even worse, it's typical Reality show contestants. Which aren't stable to begin with. They aren't exactly ambassadors of the US material. To enhance the show, producers typically create a schedule where contestants get little to no sleep. I guess it's not as bad as most Reality shows, but that isn't saying much.
