@goddog For flash? No. However, they added yet another restriction to the developer agreement saying you could only write applications using Apple's development tools. That's drawing the attention of the DOJ and congress.

F1 cars are designed to break apart and take the brunt of the crash forces. The cockpit is designed to hold together as everything else around it breaks apart.

I tend to think F1 and NASCAR are very boring. WRC is interesting, but coverage of it on TV can be hit or miss.

ITO makes more than just tea. Be that as it may, typical animal tests involve trying to blind or induce some sort of overdose. A lot of it is fairly barbaric and unnecessary. This isn't medical research, it's testing for allergies and reactions and can be done with automated assay and immunoassay tests.

If you're a fan of those kinds of tests just keep buying proctor and gamble products (AKA P&G). They have drawn the ire of animal rights groups for decades. You don't hear a lot about it in the news media because P&G is the largest advertiser in the world.

It's the largest board in Japan. It's social and been around since the dawn of the internet age. That being said the ire of the 2chan community was enough to force changes to English language Mainichi Daily News site.

Depends on what class of service you're flying. A lot of airlines have crummy coach class. Some have better booze or food, but most are about the same. Cramped seat, so-so entertainment, and blah food.

Business class and First class. That's were the differences really are. JAL doesn't do a half bad job. Delta/NWA is okay in Business.

That's a fairly misleading title. They have rearranged the seats. At a minimum the seats have to have at least 7 extra inches of pitch. On some planes it's as much as 14 inches. Anything less than 7 inches will not incur any charge. You'll be competing against Elite members. So check in at exactly 24 hrs before the flight. Not that Continental has much in flights to and from Japan. That's firmly split up between JAL, ANA and Delta.

Here's what you folks don't get. It's not because of the clock that the PS3 games and content stopped working. It's because of the copy protection. They need to connect to a valid Sony server in order to work.

To put it another way, if you enjoy hooking up your old Nintendo every now and then and playing a classic game don't count on it being able to do that with the PS3. If in 10 years Sony decides to discontinue server support for the PS3 then a whole slew of games and content that you paid for will stop working.

The bit on bulkheads in first class is extremely rare. The only time I've seen it is on Air France intra-Europe which is just coach seats where the middle seat isn't bookable. Most have a cutout or have more than enough of a setback to stretch out.

I have to disagree with the bit on paid upgrades too. While some airlines offer them, they are typically are the cost between the coach fare and discounted business price. Most airlines do not offer sell upgrades because no one would pay the regular price if they did. JAL and ANA would let the seats go out empty before selling an upgrade to the international first class cabin.

Seatguru.com is a great resource. I would also recommend once you have your seat keep checking it and make sure you don't get bumped out of it. Don't be afraid to call the airline and complain if you loose a prime seat. Oh, and if you have no status with the airline, don't be surprised if you can't book prime seats. They best customers will get first crack weeks (or months) before general passengers. You get the table scraps on day of departure.

As far as I know Palin doesn't have much in the way of ideas. Her Ideas typically consist of one line zingers that have no substance. Not to mention most of her criticism of liberals lean towards personal attacks since she can't debate substance. As far as I am concerned she reaps what she sows.

The video the police put together is pretty neat. It's over 27 minutes, but worth a watch if you like this stuff. The issue isn't that the team was sloppy per se, I think they simply underestimated the Dubai authorities.

They were wearing disguises and obstructing their faces at the target hotel. The issue is they were able to track them to other hotels where they changed appearance. From there they could cross reference them to the airport. The amount of CCTV footage they would have had to go through would be staggering. It's quite likely they've invested in some western technology to assist.

If you look at package you'll also notice that at least four members of the surveillance team were never identified. They consisted of two man/woman teams. Wired has the video and quotes from former Mossad Operative Victor Ostrovsky in the Threatlevel blog.

As far as the Mossad? It's Occum's Razor. Who else is going to have a fairly large western assassination team hit this guy?

You either get the joke or you don't. I thought it was funny and Palin got off easy compared to a lot of people parodied on Family Guy.

As far as the word Retard? It doesn't offend me. Why? Because when I hear the word Retard I don't think of mentally challenged people. I think of people who are considered "Normal" who show poor judgment. The English language changes. Fags are no longer bits of kindling for the fire, but cigarettes (UK definition). Saying someone is Gay in 2010 doesn't mean the same thing it meant in 1940.

Add to that Palin is an obvious opportunistic victim. Retard is okay when a "satirist" like Limbaugh uses it to describe liberals. But when Liberals use it's time to hit the talk show circuit. Wah.

@drtoro The iPad isn't supposed to replace a real computer or laptop. It's priced to be an book, internet and media device.

The pedal issue is a long term material wear issue with pedals built in Canada by CTS (US company). Toyota's made in Japan used a pedal made by Denso (Japanese) which is why the recall is localized to certain models made in certain factories.

Posted in: The discrediting of Toyota could even destroy the world’s trust in Japanese manufacturing, which relies on its reputation for high quality.

Apple isn't going to sell a proper computer for $499. You want a proper Apple Notebook then you need to pony up the $999 for a MacBook. And frankly, who else sells a durable all metal laptop for $999?

Fact is Netbooks Stink for the most part. They are slow, extremely hard to type on, and only good for the most remedial tasks.

As far as speed, the Netbook folks are saying 1Ghz is too slow. The Apple A4 chips is slick version of an Arm Cortex-A9 CPU plus a GPU. Side by side benchmarks show a 500Mhz A9 with no GPU pimp smacking the Intel Atom with GPU at 1.6Ghz. The iPad is going to blow away the single core Atom processors and will be competitive with the new dual core Atom processes.

Will the iPad take off as universally as the iPod? Doubt it, but it will fill a number of niche markets. Those markets will be determined by various "killer apps". There's people who like to have a internet device and ebook around the house, but don't want to have their face buried in a laptop. Day 1 the five largest western publishing houses as much as 95% of their catalog online (both consumer and academic books). The freak'n huge multi-touch screen is sure to have applications in commercial and games.

In the end I think it will sell better than most netbooks, and the kindle. It will be respectable, but not earth shaking.

I don't get it. Even at Western airlines there's usually 1 staff person for every 2-4 kiosks. I'm not seeing how there's extra labor for the generally poorly paid terminal staff.
