I would buy the Fujitsu Automate beer dispenser if they would sell it outside of Japan (As seen in some of the Airline lounges in NRT and at various bars).

Yes, the Japanese are so proud of it few department stores sell it, and those that do are quite low key about it. Yes indeed. Massive support for it. Did I mention the one time it was served on Iron Chef that one of the judges refused to eat it. And that was back in the 90's. Feel the way of Japanese enthusiasm around eating it.
Old people like to eat it. Why? Because they're old.

Oh my, Western countries don't give a hoot about Japans protests relating to whaling. The best they could hope for is a little lip service.

Do any of these specialty and regional beers ever taste good? I've tried maybe a dozen or so over the years whenever I'm in Japan and they always seem to lack a refinement that US and EU specialty/micro beers have. They always remind me of mid-level home brew.

You can have a look at the behavior that has the fish mongers up in arms:
http://www.ntv.co.jp/news/asx/081213021_56k.asx
Dudes licking the fish, smoking near the stock, flash photography when they've specifically been told not to, some guys jump on the back of a truck irritating the supervisor and the real shocker, some woman kisses her boyfriend on the cheek in public!
However, I think it's just the wholesale/auction that's closed. Retail/restaurant side is still open.

Up until just a couple weeks ago Ford was the controlling share holder of Mazda, and had rights to appoint a significant number of executives.
Several Mazda's sold in the US are made by Ford in Detroit. The big three can obviously make a Japanese quality car. But the cars they make under their own brands are quite sub par.

She would have been better off going directly to the JAG on it. The Status of Forces Agreement basically says the the J-Cops can't arrest a US service person until charges are formally filed. The US isn't too keen on changing that unless a lawyer can be present during questioning.
If the J-Cops hadn't messed things up she could have gone after the guy in US Court too. Sad mess this whole thing is.

The only stories you find about the Wii in the US is about how hard it is to find in stores. Even years after launch, AND on a bad economy, AND the XBox 360 price dropping under the Wii price.

Sony sells the PS3 at a loss. As of Q3 2008 Sony had lost $3bn USD. And that was back when the dollar was worth something compared to the JYP. By this point the PS3 was supposed to be a money maker for Sony, not a continued drain on the bottom line. It's no wonder they are laying off people.

What does Obama have to do with the Federal Reserve system? The Gov't gets ONE vote on the board, that's the extent of the control we have. The author has a lot to say, but not a lot of facts to work with.

I saw whale served as part of a dish on Iron Chef once (not a secret ingredient). One of the judges refused to eat it and that was back in the 90's.
At any rate, the west doesn't care about Japan's position on this matter. The green peace boat has it's own TV show on major cable networks around the world.

Huh, I wonder how the Japanese will react to the Animal Planet/Discovery Channel "Whale Wars" series. It takes a pretty dim view of the Whalers. That showing in the US right now, and world wide soon after.

Most of the planes are doing the new Pacific routes are using the newer Northwest Airbus planes. The Northwest cabin crew is tied to the specific plane until operating certificates are combined (late 2009). So if you liked the service you were getting from Northwest, same people, nicer blankets and pillows, maybe even some decent bourbon.

I've used my Visa in Japan many many times. From small shops, department stores, fast food, hotels, whatever. No problems. In Europe the merchants are less and less accepting of the mag strip credit cards. I've had way more problems in Germany and France than I ever had in Japan.
