LFRAgain... I'm not sure why you would think that. Kusuangi (and SMAP) are loved and I'm sure the police knew it wouldn't be a decision that people would like. Had it been a celebrity who was notorious I'm sure it could be looked at as grandstanding.

The simple answer is yes, but Tatsumaru points out the "good faith" issue. The media should always be concerned in what context they are filming or taking photos.
It would also be nice if the media would let people know what context they are using the film and/or photos.

Den Den, Christian schools in Japan are certified. There are many, though the number of families that would actually consider themselves "Christians" is probably less than 2% at these schools. They send their kids there for the higher quality education as opposed to the Christianity aspect.
