I'm impressed that they decided to include it, but something tells me that they know there are going to be protests and by including it they can be looked at as open minded, but in reality they will pull it at the last second for safety reasons thus satisfying the people who don't want it shown...

Congrats!!! And I'm so glad they made the right decision not to include his Japan hits in the total.
It's fun to speculate what his total would be at now if he would have joined the majors from the beginning. I'm sure he wouldn't have been on a big league ball park right at 18 like he was in Japan, but I'm sure he could have 1000 hits or near that.

Are "energy drinks" the same thing as sports drinks like Aquarius, Pocari Sweat or Gatorade??? Or is this in reference to the drinks like Yunker, Royal Jelly or Red Bull???

I don't know what all this B.S. talk is about having to wait to be treated. I've been in Tokyo 15 years and I have NEVER waited for more than 15 minutes to be treated by a doctor when I've just walked in. The hospitals and clinics near my place also take reservations and as soon as I get there to fill out the paper work about why I'm there I immediately get to see the doctor.
I also had a bad ankle problem that no one could seem to diagnose. I finally found a doctor who was considered one of the best for sports injuries in Japan on a referral from my local clinic doctor and he said if I wanted to be without the nagging discomfort that I would need surgery but that it wasn't necessary (read: ELECTIVE). I said I wanted the ELECTIVE surgery and I made an appointment for 10 days later. He said he had an opening a week later, but I had to make arrangements with work. My ankle is as good as new. My only complaint about the surgery is that they made me stay in the hospital for 6 days after the surgery.
Granted Japan has issues in the country side, but that's a doctor shortage as much as it is a bed shortage, but all of this fear people are putting into others has just got to stop.

Grafton... The amount of health care costs are FAR, FAR more than the taxes that are brought in. I'll post the link later, but only 25% of people in Japan smoke. Do you really think that covers ALL of the people that use health care in Japan??? People go to the hospital for a simple cold here. I'm running late.

I had LASIK done on both eyes six years ago and my Japanese wife had hers done five years ago in the States through LASIK Plus. We both agree it was the best money we've ever spent. Please do your research and find a reputable doctor and don't let "Ari94" and "notimpressed" scare you off.
And that link that "notimpressed" left???
What a joke! He actually writes:
My eyes are still in great condition. Everything the doctor told me about discomfort after the procedure came to be true. I had some discomfort after the procedure like having sand in both of my eyes and that was expected. I was given some medication to put me to sleep and when I woke up the next morning I didn't need glasses anymore. I followed the directions in regards to follow-up care with eyedrops and six years later I still have perfect vision with one eye slightly stronger than the other. I do feel that I will need bifocals soon because I have to focus more when I read, but I'm in my 40s and that's normal. The doctor told me that at that time LASIK could not help with the need for bifocals.
The best part was that in the consultation he told me that I was young enough and that my vision wasn't weak enough that he thought I didn't need to have the procedure done. I really felt that he wasn't just trying to pad the clinic's bank account.
We recently heard that there is now a LASIK procedure that can correct the need for bifocals and we're considering that procedure for next year.
Just do your research people. ALL surgical procedures involve some risks. LASIK isn't any more dangerous and any other surgical procedure.

Because people in Japan are brainwashed to not complain and think critically they don't have the guts to refuse the overtime work. The fact that Honda is "bringing back overtime" means nothing.

asthecrow_flies - Because even part-time workers are given benefits and corporations don't want to pay extra to match those casual workers. And why should they when the regular contemporary slave workers will do the overtime for free???

You can't tell me that these workers have been going home at 5:00 every day for the last year (or however long the "global slump" has been going on) and there's no way they've been paid for the overtime in that period either.
I came to Japan before the bubble was about to burst and things were so good. The idiots used to say "... We have to work so much because Japan's products are in such demand. We have to maintain production."
And after the bubble exploded until today the idiots went on a different spin, "... We have to work so much to make sure our companies survive because the economy is bad..."
Well when does the work end??? It NEVER does. Work is ALWAYS going to be there and while I can see there are periods (a month or so, not years or decades) when we all have to work more than usual the contemporary slavery and free overtime has got to end.
When will the corporations and government realize that long term prosperity and production will increase when people are allowed to enjoy their lives more???

In this day and age who signs something without taking a careful look at it??? Especially at that level of politics. They should lose their jobs along with Aso for being so stupid.

These gutless wonders. They obviously signed the petition and were threatened by the powers that be. I want the LDP to fail miserably and I'm glad these LDP idiots are protecting their friend as opposed to doing what's best for the country, but I keep hoping someone will grow a backbone in this country.
