I always thought the "Richard Hall Show" a few years back was similar to SNL...

Love how JT only mentions the love part...

Lets see... she was the youngest of 10 children, came from the countryside, poor family, mother died last year, went through the earthquake alone (assumingly), and probably wasn't making that much money... I can see why the supposed depression may have come...

the rags-to-riches thing is doubtful... she probably wasn't making any more than 250,000 a month, I'd be willing to bet under 200,000... that is nothing in Tokyo, especially Meguro... these kind of young "Talento" don't make much money...

So, everyone here seems to think that Kim Yu-na is crying because she lost... I see... it couldn't possibly be about something else... I know one thing, if I were competing for the first time in a long time, I would be emotional as well just making it to the podium... She's still the Olympic gold medalist, and in my opinion, still the favorite to win it again in Russia...

I'm just loving this paradox that has been created from the Ichihashi incident...

with the exception of ICHIRO, JPN players in the US know how to contribute to winning games at the MLB level..... little matsui, iwamura, hideki matsui, matsuzaka, are all coming back to Japan with World Series experience, some with Championships... they will all be able to teach Japanese kids what it means to be a Major Leaguer... btw, ICHIRO is the best from nippon in the game of baseball! hats-off:).... as a Major Leaguer, he is the worst from nippon! hats-off:(

"What's the difference between "socialism" and "communism"?" "That's like saying what's the difference between consumerism and facism."

here's a better one... what's the difference between the "USA" and a "paradox"?

Ichiro's communication concern is nothing more than a paradox... the fact that Japanese players continue to use an interpreter is because of him... he knows quite well that he is a pioneer (of sorts), yet he continues to display a poor example... and now his words (or interpreters) are coming back to haunt him... check foxsports...

the best thing that could happen for the Mariners is for Ichiro to NOT get 200 hits this year... then the Japanese media will get over that fascination, and just maybe Hiroshi Yamauchi will give the OK to managers to move him around in the lineup...

A leadoff hitter's sole responsibility is to get on base for the rbi producers in the 2-5 slots. At 200 hits a season, that means he is on base a minimum of 200 times (not counting walks). Batters can watch the pitcher warming up and while they're on deck <

sorry, but no, you're quite wrong... just ask Ricky Henderson...

Is he a leadoff hitter? I'd beg to differ... a leadoff hitter's job is to also see pitches; to give the hitters behind him something to see... you want to get at a pitcher early in the game; get his pitch count up... Ichiro does not do those things... and you can't be hesitant on the basepath... Ichiro may have a good steal rate, but he's hardly a threat to pitchers...

Does 200 hits sink a team? think about that again... who really wants that, Ichiro or the Japanese management? Of course, we don't know for sure... but we do know how big Japan is on numbers and stats... it's a great selling point...

That said, I don't blame him for being the leadoff hitter... I blame management for that... I think Lou Piniella knew clearly that he wasn't a real leadoff man, which is why he was tried as a third hitter... I think management was against that move, which was probably part of the differences Piniella had with management... if Ichiro was batting third, Figgins batting leadoff like the true leadoff man he is, I guarentee the M's will score more runs, and earlier in the game... and there won't be any more Figgins-Ichiro DPs...

I'm loving this... Sumo is getting exactly what they wanted... they should have let Asa leave on his own terms... now, they're going to pay dearly for booting him out... Asa has more power than the JSA realizes... this situation reminds me of Randy Bass, Tuffy Rhodes, and Alex Cabrera... I can't wait to see where Asa takes this... one thing is for sure, though, he won't disrespect his former stable master...

And this is obviously prevalent in Japanese baseball where all of the teams are commercially owned. Not only is this hurting Japanese baseball, but it takes something away from the game... for example, I've always thought that team names such as "Nippon Ham Fighters" and "Daiei Hawks" sound absolutely ridiculous (Daiei is a department store chain... it would be like calling the NY Yankees, the "Macy's Yankees").<

Hmmm... Nintendo Mariners... well, Mario and Yoshi were our mascot for a little while in the 90s...

It's his under-use in the US. If you go your entire life working very hard and then shift to a culture where the athletes don't work hard at all, you're going to have problems. The US teams need to improve their training regimens.<

oic... then explain Suguru Egawa and his retirement at age 32... or Kazuhiro Sasaki retiring shortly after playing in the MLB... Sasaki was given his freedom to use his own regimen as well, and he did...

predictable... Koshien is finally catching up to Dice-K... his over-use in Japan is starting to show... happened with Nomo, happened with Irabu... but, Nomo never complained, he adjusted... ditto the comments on the WBC...

also to note, he did beat Chestnut recently in a pizza eating competition...
