Thousands of people marched against nuclear power Saturday, amid growing worries about the restarting of reactors idled after the March 11 meltdown disaster in northeastern Japan.

That's all well and good. Are these same people going to refrain from using electricity until the wind an solar farms are built to meet Japan's base load demand?

    I don't think so.

then watched a porsche cayenne slide down an icy hill backwards into a brick wall

That's the best place for one of those ghastly vehicles.

So we can expect a new series of Carry On films if the goal is bums on seats rather than quality flicks?

Like those T Shirts you got as a kid, it should read "My comrade went to North Korea, and all I got was this lousy dictator."

"they should also remind party goers it is not good manners to barf on train platforms or in front of stations."

Here here. Why cant they barf on the track, over the side of the platform or in a garden or rubbish bin if they can't hold it in. Why do I have to a) watch you puke your guts and b) then have to tread my way through your partially digested ramen?

Omotesando makes me cringe at the best of times. Wasting energy on outlandish lights on the street of crassness while people in Fukushima freeze is just disgusting.

The Shotengai's that are outside Tokyo and the major cities are even more interesting, as they are like the English High Streets from many years ago. I like how they are covered with rooves, particularly in Sapporo with the snow and in summer, the covers over the Kokura and Takamatsu Shotengai's were a blessing.

i am all for Chinese tourists at ski resorts, just as long as they remember it is not China and no jumping the ski lift lines.

That, and remember to keep the noise down in the apres-ski onsen, and not to shout loud enough so that the folks back home can hear them - saw that happen at Shiga Kogen last season.

The only guys I have a problem is are the chinpira and gyarus that come for the fashion parade on their boards and keep on sitting in the middle of the slope and entering the difficult slopes and becoming live obstacles

    They're a major pain in the a***.

It still amazes me how much a Pizza costs to buy in Japan. 25% off the regular price there is still rediculous. Whoever designed that coupon webpage should be fired. One of the most user-unfriendly web pages I've seen in a while.

This really is a storm in a teacup. Like many have said, the trains do infact drive themselves after the driver has pushed a couple of buttons after receiving the all clear to proceed from the guard. I suspect they were not making calls while this was happening. Just another example of JT Tokai treating its staff like robots.

protesting against too many Korean dramas being shown on Japanese TV.

You have got to be kidding. With all the problems Japan faces, this is what these numbnuts choose to protest about? FFS!

IMHO Politics is really the cancer of the society.

If politics is a cancer, then what is the system that is in place in North Korea? AIDS?

I say good luck to the new guy in Osaka. But don't listen to the Tokyo Village Idiot (Ishihara) for advice.
