glyco, I completely agree with all of your comments, it's just that Japan is a nation obsessed with 'status' and 'rankings'. It has hurt Japan's pride considerably that China is now the top space power in Asia due to having a manned space program, and Japan's top space scientists and…

Agree with the other posts. Japan now as some spine and one swinging sack of balls.

Kudos to Hatoyama for finally making Japan something other than a doormat of the United States. Japan can now be taken seriously as an independent nation.

Gotta admit, the DPJ under Hatoyama has shown that they indeed have some balls, with Japan finally acting like an independent nation.

Japan's respect level in the eyes of the international community has gone up considerably.

No better way for Japan to give the United States the middle finger.

'Long term I put my money on India as the dominant economy in Asia.'

When you mean 'long term', do you mean within 50-100 years? I think India could be one of the dominant economies in Asia, but in order to do so, India needs to fix it's horrendous infrastructure,…

It seems, from the posts above from Okinawa residents, that people are just sick and tired of the American occupation over the last 60 years. Having their people treated as 2nd class citizens on their own island, along with the horror stories of Okinawan/Japanese women being assaulted and raped year…

It will get interesting when Japan attaches a re-entry module to this cargo vessel, to allow the safe return of humans, thereby fulfilling Japan's long cherished goal of achieving manned space flight.

As it stands now, Japan is many years away from this goal, but hopefully with hard work, dedication,…

The problem is, just about everything the Japanese eat is made in China, from one degree or another. So, in essence, China is feeding Japan, and there is little protection that the Japanese people can realistically count on to fulfill there food safety needs, other than making the move to…
