Many teachers in Japan do not EARN the respect of their students, therefore action taken by those teachers will fall on deaf ears.
However, there is often no discipline in the schools. One reason is for fear the parents of that child will become angry.
I think schools should have something like a "contract" of behavior. This should define what is and is not acceptable, as well as punishments for offenders. The contracts should be signed by both parents and students. The rules and punishments should be enforced. If the parents or students don't like it, they should go to another school.

I started watching some of these, but with sloppier performances of many with the same program as the olympics, what's the point.

I am tired of hearing about celebrities, sports stars and the like's affairs and infidelities. These are private matters, and should stay that way. This would eliminate the profiteers that sleep with famous people just to sell the movie, phone calls, pictures, text messages, etc.
Tiger will have to deal with his problems. It should not be the media that decides or interferes with his marriage.

Kids at 10 act on their impulses, for the most part, without concern or forethought of the consequences of their actions.
When I was a kid I burned things all the time. Thank goodness nothing serious happened, but I was not thinking about that. I just wanted to make fire and watch it burn!
Also, the story says the kid was "watching the fire with a happy expression on his face." I know that many Japanese have a "happy expression" when they are scared or nervous...and others because they are mentally unstable. I wonder what the true reason is in this case.
