If this is the one I am thinking of, I remember it really clearly. The little creep abandoned her body by rolling it down into some woods from off a seldom-travelled mountain road. The cops found nothing incriminating except some tyre tracks, as I recall. I pray they catch him.

    ptolemy, you may be right.

williamsmith "We need to destroy Islam" = & opposite, mirror images = "We need to destroy the unbelievers." Two sides of the same curtain. Just like the bull charging the red cape. Mutual destruction, here we come???

I have close Muslim friends and feel a warmth there. I know there is an intelligent life force that keeps us all alive for a few short years that some may call Allah and some may call God. One by nature, it cannot be two.

But couple ignorance with deprivation, then cynical politicians and narrow-minded religious leaders will take the opportunity to tickle pre-conceptions and raw hatred, and force gullible youth to do unthinkable things. This is the poison, the illusion, where black can be described and actually 'seen' as white. The true answer is deep in our hearts, but few have the time or the patience to bother to find it.

Just had a readup on this elsewhere and it was in August, the hottest part of the summer, when this university student was asleep with her window open and the mosquito screen door closed. So it was not technically breaking and entering.

One article I read said that he 女子学生に抱きつくなどした疑い is "suspected of doing things like putting his body in close contact with hers" ...

What are you talking about? If Hindus, then yes, I believe that on a small scale they have tried to stir up trouble and to get Muslims to take the blame, but the vast majority of attacks around the world are one-sided, ie Muslim on Kuffar unbelievers. Politics usually plays a large role. In this case it could be Kashmiri independece fighters who just happen to be Muslim in name but not in truth, and carry an extreme hatred of Indians. (What else? I hope you're not a conspiracy theorist rabbiting on about the World Trade Center.)

But close examination usually reveals that Muslims have been framed. That has been the usual MO of a certain group of terrorists. Unlike the previous century, many people have finally caught on to this deceptive tactic.

And if no Mullah comes out and condemns this attack, I am sorry, but I will have to conclude that they secretly support it. Or are they simply afraid of their own flock?

Is Islam under attack? No, I don't think so. It looks from here like the armed wing of Islam is on the attack, yet again. Aggressive, militant, and out of touch with what really matters to the human heart.

The 8:09 entry here from 'zurcronium' is plagiarized.

No, but it is lazy, (Nessie, yes) and also irritating, as there are no quotation marks, so we cannot distinguish where if anywhere the original quotation ends, and whether any of the last is his own opinion.

Suppose that every day, the same ten men go out for a few beers and the bill for all ten comes to £100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay £1. The sixth would pay £3. The seventh would pay £7. The eighth would pay £12. The ninth would pay £18. The tenth man (the richest) would pay £59.

So, that's what they decided to do.

The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. 'Since you are all such good customers,' he said, 'I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by £20.' Drinks for the ten now cost just £80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free.

But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the £20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?' They realized that £20 divided by six is £3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.

And so: The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings). The sixth now paid £2 instead of £3 (33%savings). The seventh now pay £5 instead of £7 (28%savings). The eighth now paid £9 instead of £12 (25% savings). The ninth now paid £14 instead of £18 (22% savings). The tenth now paid £49 instead of £59 (16% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the bar, the men began to compare their savings.

'I only got a pound out of the £20,'declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man, 'but he got £10'.

'Yeah, that's right,' exclaimed the fifth man. 'I only saved a pound, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than I got'

'That's true' shouted the seventh man. 'Why should he get £10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!'

'Wait a minute,' yelled the first four men in unison. 'We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!'

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, ladies and gentlemen, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible.

These ships move too slowly. They could maybe shoot as a warning and then shoot to kill, but if the pirates get angry the game ends there. Not enough speed to escape. It's get taken, or get sunk time.

Since every ship is on its own, and there is a constant line of ships going in various directions, patrolling by NATO must be very difficult.

Perhaps if an optional convoy was offered each way once a day, those who want protection could join in the convoy, and those who are happy on their own could steam away freely.

Luckily there are four islands, and in the case of Takeshima, two. That makes the maths for a deal pretty easy, even for diplomats and politicians. (Imagine if there had been three, and only one Takeshima island!!! :D )

Well, if you insist on placing your 'anti-Iran' missile shield in former Soviet states right on the borders with Russia, then Russia is going to expect similar understandings in the Gulf of Mexico in return.

They had better build those platforms hurricane-proof, though, as there lies the real enemy.
